Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Melvin needs to be careful on how he is structuring these discretionary bonuses

Way too big of a divide between what salaried and hourly received. Beyond ridiculous. Well at least we know who he values and who he doesn't.

I think Marvin needs to keep a low profile for a while. Stay at the corporate office and quit his podcasts. He likes to hear himself talk too much.

Don’t worry about the bonuses. Look how the $20 min wage worked for fast food workers. Go to the kiosk to order. Let fry bot make the fries and flippy make the burgers. They don’t “forget” to wash their hands after the bathroom.

Lowe’s will replace workers with robots soon. They won’t need many retail workers.

Then on top of this they put out an additional discount at the beginning of the month when people have to pay bills. Come on, how disconnected is Melvin and his minions? And of course he glorified this in his podcast. What a di-k!

Stepping stone jobs? So the people with 20 plus years with the company and never been in management, should have quit years ago? And anyone that put 80 hrs in one week for the same pay, who's the id--t.

What are you attempting to communicate with this comment?

Retail hourly position are not meant for you to have a career on the selling floor for 25 years. Not in any retail environment. They are entry positions or after someone retires.
If you move up you will have better pay, more pressure and responsibility for others and the company. Thus have a career.

Marvin should have been smarter. That was a slap in the face.

Lowe’s needs to move on from department supervisors maybe 2 to 3 per store that’s it 80 percent of them walk around all day and look busy .

If you want to make the big money in retail then you have to be willing to step up into an asm role. Hourly positions are never going to pay much, they are stepping stone jobs only. You may not like that or agree with it, but that is the way it is.

I guess the ASM's did everything and the hourly associates didn't do enough. Great job in alienating everybody Melvin!

As a customer of many Lowe's stores, I'm tired of other customers bringing their dogs into the store. Leave the dogs at home.

Was the company saying that the ASMs were 10 times more responsible for those sales then the people on the floor working directly with the customer?

Yes there are. Retail jobs are on a selling floor are not career positions.

The bonus should have been proportional. ASMs getting 12.5% over full timers and supervisors and 25% more than a part timer? That is a skewed structure at best. It also cost Lowe's my family's business. Never again will we spend money there.

Let's not forget about the massive tax cuts given to the company by our ex-president. The company gave us money one time but are still receiving those cuts today. We haven't received a penny since.

Ok, you want us to consider that. How about when the company had its best sales year ever, we were given a few hundred and ASMs were given eight thousand. Was the company saying that the ASMs were 10 times more responsible for those sales then the people on the floor working directly with the customer?

The amount of bonus's handed out to hourly (average of $200 & approximately 300,000 worker's ) is $60 million.

Not taking any sides here, just some numbers to think about. Just a large view of how much money was handed out.

At least we know who Melvin values in the stores and who he doesn't. He can go to he-l.

As a customer of many Lowes stores, I want to say that no hourly employee ever asks if I need help finding anything. Most often they stand in groups of two or three and talk to each other. No one even managers ever ask or say hello. Y’all complain about no bonuses. I think you need to earn the basic wage first. Get mad all you like, but you know I’m right.

We need to unionize to get anything. UPS drivers are going to be making 150k total comp. we are at least worth half of that. They have a union, we need one too.

All the money is for the ASM's and above. They're giving raises at our store that don't even start to compete with the cost of living. And they wonder why they can't retain employees.

This topic will not go away. And it shouldn't. You can't just give your delegators the goldmine and give the workers the shaft. That is a slap in the face to all the hourly employees in the company.
