Thread regarding Commscope Inc. layoffs

Why don't commscope offer voluntary redundancy?

Just throwing it out there but why don't commscope offer voluntary redundancy instead of this continous torture of layoffs every few months for last 4+ years?
Least that way employees who wish to go will get 1st refusal .if package is rubbish than worse that will happen is mandatory like they are already implementing

Would make sense as the seem but they lay off those costing more to employ.
So maybe that's why the don't offer voluntary as the worker bees would jump at it

The problem with this is that there would be nobody left now if it were offered.

Then the other issue is that it tends to be the best people that will take it and go. Such as if you have something else lined up and a nice pay day before you go, then in these times you take it.

Most of the best people have gone because they know what is going on in the background. They'll pass on any pay out because they'd rather go get a new opportunity now before everyone is applying for same roles down the line.

We have teams of people here doing nothing. They're not motivated to find anything else and they'll be here until the very end. That is what the company is left with.

They did that about five years ago. The problem with it is you had many people leave who were your best people while the dead weight wouldn’t always take it. Plus you can’t control how many take it and in that case it was much more than they anticipated/wanted.
