There's a rumor that they will announce cancelation or deferred 777X development next week.

787 was Boeing's worst airplane development financial disaster. I predict it will Boeing's worst "safety escapement" disaster too.

Most of the 787 customers wanted their airplanes built in Everett instead of Charleston because of the poor quality of work in Charleston. so Boeing in their wisdom moved the entire line to Charleston So they no longer had a choice where the airplane was manufactured.

One group was manufacturing a much higher-quality airplane, so Boeing punishes them because they’re paid more by giving the work to the lesser paid but poorer quality team in Charleston.

Just another example of how quality was the last consideration. The prime considerations were always cost and diversity. They brought in the least experienced people who they could pay the least unless they were diversity hires.

When people take a flight, they want airplanes that are built by the best and the most experienced people not based on the color of their skin or their gender. Boeing got everything backwards.

The curtain has only started to get pulled open. Much more will be revealed. There will be more smoking holes. Boeing executives will keep getting richer and never held to account. Best one can do is avoid getting on a Boeing airplane.

Unlike aluminum structure that will first develop detectable micro cracks, composite structure fails without any warning.

As bad as it seems now, it will get much worse. Hope lives can be saved before it happens.

Congress summons Boeing's CEO to testify on its jetliner safety following new whistleblower charges.
A Senate subcommittee has summoned Boeing CEO David Calhoun

The panel said it will hold a hearing next week featuring a Boeing quality engineer, Sam Salehpour, who is expected to detail safety concerns involving the manufacture and assembly of the 787 Dreamliner. The subcommittee said in a letter that those
problems could create “potentially catastrophic safety risks.”

  • (Let’s hope hope he has body guards)

The FAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to that account, Salehpour worked on the 787 but grew alarmed over changes to the assembly of the fuselage, the main
body of the aircraft. That process entails fitting together and
fastening giant sections of the fuselage, each one produced by
a different company, according to Salehpour's account.

Salehpour told the Times he believed Boeing was taking shortcuts
that led to excessive force in the assembly process, creating deformations in the composite material used in the aircraft's
outer skin.

FAA will get another black eye for lack of oversight if one of these beauties breaks up and falls out of sky.

No surprise as there have been rumors for years,, but wonder why disclosure has taken so long. But no one learned about MCAS until AFTER the 737Max accidents.
