Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Working/Non-Working Period and Severance Pay

Anybody else find this working (last date is April 12, 2024)/non-working period (last date with Citi is June 29, 2024) confusing?

Severance won't be paid until June 29th? HR doesn't know if you can file for unemployment during your working and non-working notice periods? What?

And you have to pay back the severance money if you get a job with Citi during the working/non-working period.

If you get an external opportunity, can you state that your last day is April 12th? The way the separation summary reads, it appears as though your last day is June 29th. Huh?

@9uaw+1rWlmAhq - you can claim unemployment starting from 6/30 or 7/1.
If you are rehired at Citi (as a FTE ) within one year you return severance however, u don’t have to return if you join as a consultant.

Question here. I have heard and continue to read regarding Citi layoffs packages. Is it true that one will continue be be paid bi-wekly for a period of 90 days, through June 29, 2024 and THEN receive a lump sum after said date for 3 months pay? Thanks for any response.

Rule of thumb. You can’t double dip. You can’t tap into unemployment insurance if you are getting a Citi pay check during WARN period. Last employment day with company is in June. If you are rehired within Citi during WARN then you no longer get the WARN pay- that’s double dipping. If you are rehired after severance payout you don’t get to keep severance- that’s double dipping.

During the warn “ non working” period, you’re still employed by Citi. For those 60 or 90 days, you get your regular paycheck. So you can’t file for unemployment until after the non working period is over, you also don’t get severance until after that non working period because you’re still employed!

You’ll get paid for 60 days without working. On day 61 you file for unemployment. Your severance will be paid 30 - 60 days after your last non-working day. I was laid off last year so I have experience.

Sorry to tell but Citi policy is to return your severance if you rehired within one year.

This is a clear attempt to forfeit your Severance and WARN pay. Play it carefully. Heard the same from my friend who was let go recently.
