"RSU awards are great."

But they're very volatile and unpredictable. HT assumed that their usual playbook would work with VMware customers and partners. Not true. So, RSUs are great, until they're not.

"3 weeks? 3 years? Don’t care"

You are a good fit for the Broadcom Software mercenary Private Equity culture.

Enjoy your windfall. Nobody cares.

RSU awards are great.
Brought my TC to >1m a year for next few years..
Paid out every quarter I don’t really care if and when I will be let go. Just going to do the work asked of me to the best of my ability while maintaining the WLB I desire till it’s no longer asked of me.

3 weeks? 3 years? Don’t care

I am a long-time VMW employee, who until just recently was in a transition role helping to lead a big chunk of the integration into BC. The fact is BC will be conducting ongoing RIFs as the integration continues and they see where the business settles in terms of P&L performance. The initial headcount envelopes provided to senior leaders around the time of the acquisition were just that – initial. BC will continue to closely monitor business performance and GMs and other senior leaders will be pressured to fine-tune headcount to avoid falling below “The Line of Doom”.

For those of you former VMW employees who are now BC FTEs, this is a new world. You’d better get used to it or start looking for a new job at another company.

You don't know what HT is thinking and how you are irrelevant in the decision process.

He is an old senile man. Not sure he knows himself.

"Hock has already said that he does not do RIFs."

HT has previously said many things that did not come to pass. He said, over and over, that VMware would be different from the total disruption at CA and Symantec. He lied.

The old Broadcom Software playbook was applied to VMware. You don't know what HT is thinking and how you are irrelevant in the decision process. Wise up, don't be naive.

"Dire warnings from someone who isn't in the know"
This is what denial looks like.

meh. It's predictable. We know we are all at risk. We know that the company has no patience or leniency. But there are no signs that a planned wave is coming up.

There are delayed waves now. Large layoffs in January and February and the EMEA counterparts will receive their respective ones. But these are not planned new waves.

Hock has already said that he does not do RIFs. He does not believe in having large-scale layoffs regularly. He believes in terminating people on the spot. If a team underperforms then fire them the next week. Don't let them linger for a quarter.

"VMware was plagued by managers that only promoted those people would kiss their behinds."

Now true at BC, due to the retention of the same inept managers. Nothing changed.

Everyday is a lay off day at Broadcom until Hock reaches his target EBITDA. Everyone knows that. No one is living in a fantasy world. I heard that this year majority of folks have a huge chunk of RSUs vesting. So they are resting and vesting.. Some folks are doing their time by waiting for a good job opportunity to either match the current comp or solve their immigration problems. There will be a wave of departures after June.

"Dire warnings from someone who isn't in the know"

This is what denial looks like. Regardless of the evidence of prior history that guides the Broadcom Software acquisition approach to right-sizing, some VMware employees still doubt what comes next. There is no mystery, we can all be "in the know" when we simply accept what happened at CA and Symantec will happen at VMware. It's predictable.

"bye bye Remote and Transition employees be ready"

Everyone is at risk during the next round. HT will stick to his playbook of cost-cutting. Headcount reductions are the most effective way he can reward AVGO shareholders.

Look around you now, some of the employees you see will be gone. Stop the denial. There is no disputing what comes next. CA and Symantec history is the proof point.

DEI race baiters crying victim but have nothing to contribute besides they are DEI need to go ... also all he managers that hired them , have pronouns in their profiles and don't care about what you accomplish but only how well you su-k up
VMware was plagued by managers that only promoted those people would kiss their behinds. I had seen that happen over and over again, incompetent or sub par engineers getting promoted so they they could just go along with whatever their horrific manager was pushing

Expected in Nov-Jan I would suspect, when they cull Commercial based AEs & SEs and realign who is in strategic and corporate....
CSG/Citrix under Tom is running the Broadcom playbook there and that's what happened, 1 year after there cuts.

Dire warnings from someone who isn't in the know but wants validation from random internet people that someone is listening to them so pretends to know what's happening.

More headcount cuts are likely. HT has to satisfy the AVGO shareholders that he will continue to cut expenses and pay down the huge loans that were required to buy VMware assets.

The spin-off of EUC to KKR should help to reduce the debt and show some progress.

Meanwhile, customers and partners are planning their exit ASAP.

I'm remote in Florida, no office within 50 miles of my residence and I'm not walking on water as yet. Should I be concerned?

Still working remote, less than 5 miles from office. Haven't been in the office for 4 years now.

There's still a large # of remote employees. Most of the sales orgs are still fully remote.

Only remote and transition? Transitions are already ready and not counted in number of vmware employees. Very small number of remotes.
I guess no need to worry about 2nd wave, then.
