It sure seems like a conflict of interest for a consulting company to make recommendations to your biggest competitor and another consulting company. Can anyone see McKinsey giving up some secret sauce to their competitor? Instead I see them recommending downsizing to reduce the competition. I predict the results will be exactly what Bain recommended back in 2018 RA’s

IBM destroyed far more companies, jobs, and economic value than McKinsey ever did. And hey, at least McKinsey gets paid to do it. While IBM pays to.

“Travelers who need subsidized vacations”

THIS!

I know people who fly from Raleigh to SFO to India, then make a side trip with their spouse to Goa for a week, then stop by Europe on their way back.
So cost cutting is just an excuse.

It is the next step of bluewashing... we all knew it was coming!
Why would anyone be surprised?

“ exactly what McKinsey is going to tell IBM Lower costs!”

Easy.
Engineering talent is in emea.
Support talent is in apac.
Travelers who need subsidized vacations are in Americas.
Where to cut should be easy.

I am skeptical. This company is just a job creation program for Raleigh.
Do you know how many hours are spent each day on skip level meetings?
It is insane how much time is wasted.

Ruthless cost cutting is the only thing IBM does well anymore. Make acquisitions and then wring as much cash flow out of it for the CHQ vampire's ability to pay debt interest and dividends. Soon enough the market position of the host gets eroded from lack of investment and IBM moves onto a new victim.

Streamlining should be easy.

Start by flattening the endless layers of management working on partnerships, documentation, support, vxs then fire the deadweights.
