HanesBrands (Bonds, Sheridan etc) Australia did massive redundancies in Feb 2024 impacting hundreds. It was handled so badly. At 9.30am on Feb 27 employees were told to sit and wait for a meeting invite to know if you were made redundant and in many cases people's managers were not even aware their staff were getting made redundant. There were very distressed people crying in the kitchen etc after they had just been told about their redundancy in such a brutal and uncompassionate way. They then had to go through the trauma and indignity of informing their actual manager they were made redundant. In a final 5pm wrap up to all staff, the President just seemed relieved it was all over and was making jokes about selling menopause sheets. Also mentioned sleepless nights they had but the future will be fantastic….so disrespectful to the staff made redundant. A zero people skills CFO has a horrible habit of staring at women’s chests especially when waiting for the lifts. Just gross all around. Avoid this company and its mo--nic antiquated “leadership”.

When the President/CEO announced the ambush layoffs in Feb they did an "Acknowledgment of Country" at the start of the meeting. This was the most fu---d up example of virtue signaling I have ever seen.
Hanes are doing layoffs again? They are so heartless! When the horrific Westfield Bondi Junction Sydney stabbings occurred in April 2024 (ki-ling 6 people and injuring 12), Hanes had laid off the State Manager and the Senior Area Manager. So there was no one employed to support the Flagship Store Manager. These individuals still provided support even thought the were no longer on the Hanes payroll. You know what Hanes were doing....posting social media on Instagram on how "grateful" they were for the team. Hanes actually used a mass mu---r situation as a marketing opportunity. Hanes is despicable.
Layoffs happening at Hanes Australia all over again- completely heartless. This time it is mass closure of stores across the retail network.
I am so sorry to hear you were impacted by this. The way it was handled was beyond horrendous. I have been in the corporate world long enough to have seen countless redundancies but I have never seen the level of inhumanity displayed by Hanes. People impacted included 1) women who were pregnant 2) on maternity leave 3) those injured 4) moved interstate for work 5) less than 2 months tenure 6) had just bought houses. One poor man even had a cardiac arrest and remains in hospital.
Bonds, Sheridan, Bras N Things etc deserve to be boycotted and shamed for their inhumanity and the substandard junky products they produce.
Amen to this! Well said. I was one made redundant and couldn't agree more of the way it was handled!
