Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Layoffs April

Just saw our boss in the aviation dept, who has worked for Halliburton for over 30 years, get let go today. He is around 65 so it was clear that Halliburton didn’t want to pay his retirement. Sad to see there is no loyalty anymore…someone to work for a company for that long and then get blindsided and laid off, really sad to see. I’m not sure how long I want to stay after seeing that happen to him

Wow out of the blue...someone tells me "it's getting strange around here again" Supposedly he was in a meeting and reduction in force was mentioned. Due to slow production(reduced numbers) certain areas with "excessive head count" are looking at being let go. Massacre at North belt part 2 coming soon?

I worked for Halliburton 18 yearsbefore I was laid off. That was in 2016, and I never kept in touch with anyone there. The people there, by Halliburton’s blessings, are lazy-liars-cheat to get ahead bunch of back stabbers. I watched a whole lot of good hard working people get walked out the door, they were no longer welcome, while the su-k ups kept there jobs. I went to work for a contractor at the Exxon refinery for a few years until I retired. I still keep in touch with a whole lot of those that I worked with.

Loyalty went out the window in the early 90s. Guy was lucky to make it that far

Loyal employees dont amount to a hill of beans now a days in corporate America. It's more about what can you do for me now or as the Good Ole boy says, who will get on their knees and shuck it.

To future employees considering working for this company, be cautious! While the company may boast about its values, actions speak louder. Terminating a seasoned employee after 30 plus years service is age discrimination. It is unprofessional and callous. The treatment of long-serving employees lacks empathy and professionalism. I hope they reevaluate their practices or at a minimum the leader they have in this department.

Sad to hear but this doesn’t surprise me anymore. Companies used to be loyal to employees, especially ones that worked their entire careers there…now we are all just numbers and the company will get rid of you in an instant if it helps them in any way at all.
