Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell Channel Going Away

I work on the direct side of the business and my colleagues said the next round of layoffs are coming and we are finally getting rid of channel. Any truth to this. It would be nice to not have my organization hit for once.

I think it would make sense for the client side, too little revenue to have to comp the channel and direct teams. Make the direct ISRs do it all with no extra pay, that's the Dell way.

I've not heard this yet.. I don't imagine it will "Go away" - more like consumed or realigned. Many teams will be doing the same from sales throughout all support teams. With all of the online improvements we will not need near the workforce. Expect layoffs rotations throughout the transition. This is not new - it's happened many times before. The only difference now is that the majority of Dell organizations are transitioning all at once. Think automaton and AI compatible platforms. Dell is not the only "tech" company doing this.. if anything they are dragging behind.

You realize how ludicrous this sounds? Dell would never just give up the business the channel brings in.

But they do have to stop competing against the channel at some point.

Is this a bad April Fool’s bit?

Direct TSRs have been told to learn how to make channel quotes, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true since they are trying to avoid paying double

Storage business was supposed to be steered towards the channel. The Dell channel model on PCs is very difficult and would make sense to remove.
