I have been asking my 'managers' what is going on and its veyr tight lipped. Now they have set up some one-on-one calls with people who are on the bench. The Bench meetings have been cancelled this week. I think there will be some layoffs in the next 30-60 days based upon the secretive nature of everyone this week.

Realistically speaking, the timing of any of Kyndryl's actions will be customer-driven rather than by the terms of the IBM/Kyndryl split. Given the nature of typical outsourcing agreements, not a single thing will be "moved", "migrated" or even "rebooted" without customer approval. In the outsourcing business, "IBM/Kyndryl policy and procedure" means "customer policy and procedure". They are one and the same, and they are dictated in the terms of service in the contract.

What this means to outside observers: Kyndryl won't do anything different from the past until customer contracts expire. As contracts are revisited, changes will be made if so desired. Stuff can be migrated to new locations and new platforms, or they can be left in place for the sake of stability. It's up to the customers, not Kyndryl and not IBM.

Valid explanation and reasoning. It just doesn't hold up under scrutiny. IBM had plenty of time to work out the logistics of the deal. Also they still retain like 19% of stock in Kyndryl.

A leopard does not easily change its spots. Kyndryl is a service provider that used a lot of IBM-owned equipment in IBM machine rooms on IBM real estate, managed by a lot of IBM employees. The spinoff and asset ownership may have a different name, but any rational-thinking person in the target market (managed infrastructure services) will know that it is extremely difficult to move equipment and personnel away from where the infrastructure was originally installed.

There are a lot of things about the new setup that will no doubt raise eyebrows, but the fact that there is still a huge RTP presence should not be one of them. It's hard enough to move one server and the people who manage it. Now try moving all the servers and associated people and infrastructure for a larger customer base.

With no new recent business or sales pipeline, it's just a matter of time. Contracts are not being renewed and customers are obviously unhappy. Too many on the bench / no business = mass layoffs.

Why is no one questioning the obvious? Why is Kyndryl still entrenched in Triangle Research Park. This is ground zero for IBM. The optics alone raise an eyebrow or two. The public as well as the customer and the investor. All have been reassured Kyndryl is it's own entity, independent of IBM. Really I mean c'mon if so strike out on your own Kyndryl. Physically get as far away as possible from IBM as you can. We are without a doubt still connected to IBM's hip. How many times do we defer to IBM policy's and procedure's. How often does the new company work and feel like the old company. It really is an open joke.

Did we get hit in the Raleigh office. I can not get answers from some of my fellow scared rabbit co-workers. I am noticing a lot of person's missing from my email circle. Also I can't seem to get a timely response to legitimate work inquiries. I feel sometimes this company's management is way to secretive in it's behavior, and actions.
