Layoffs hit Travelport’s commercial organization across all regions

A company spokesperson said the reduction is across all regions but it is not a company-wide initiative and “it did not affect a material number of employees (percentage wise).”

I was eliminated thanks to Covid, and wasn't really surprised nor upset. The package was good including a decent severance. I don't follow the company's ups and downs but now and then I hear something that always makes me glad for how things happened. I am relieved to be out of there - it was very toxic and not a place where you could trust your colleagues, supervisors or department heads. Run, don't walk, from this company.

Nothing new for Travelport, unfortunately. Despite booking volumes now topping 2019, Travelport is closer to 80% of pre-pandemic volume. Probably more a reflection of channel shift and market mix rather than marketshare loss, but it's still a big negative for Travelport. Just not a lot of options other than cost cutting, which always means cutting heads, and they've been doing it for years, not just in the wake of the pandemic. Maybe a more innovative management team could turn the tide, but the current senior leaders have virtually no chance of changing the trajectory IMO. If you're still employed by TP, consider managing your own way out.
