Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Manager accountability

"People don't leave jobs, they leave managers" couldn't be more true than right now. I see so many polarized posts on here and feel a lot correlate to whether someone has a supportive, encouraging leader or an unqualified, self-preserving who has treated the last 7 months as the Hunger Games and every last person for themselves. I was excited for the transformation and the message it was sending, but then shocked and disappointed to see one of those unnecessary levels of management not only stay but thrive with more servants they can take advantage of. My challenge to you, Citi, is to find a way to make sure your transformation isn't derailed by the bad eggs who survived by stepping on everyone around them. So many processes are over-engineered to make people accountable and get results. Don't let people fall into negativity and despair because they can't see a path forward for themselves.

I was the top performer in my team with good bonus given during Jan. Just finished a deal recently as well and was let go yesterday over a zoom call. I had no reaction and I somehow feel this is a blessing even though I least expected it. May be the strategy is to maintain low standards and clear pathways for people who could have a great career elsewhere. Perhaps ?
