Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Aim is to get us under 100k

Who wants to bet that the goal is to get the number of employees under 100k? I wouldn't be all that much surprised if that goal is achieved by the end of this year, or the next one at the latest. I think it's rather clear that if there was ever job security at Dell, it is long gone by now.

About Jen, came straight from the horse’s mouth, not said on a call. Apparently even HR doesn’t know how to keep things under wraps

@mpw+1rKz3tG8 this place will use just about anything to it's advantage! If anyone is using a mouse mover, don't use an app based move, just say'in

Why would anyone bet on something that has already been publicly stated?

Source please and thank you!

"Goal is 80-85K per overheard from Jen"

Was this number actually said in a call? If so can you reference the call. If accurate, that's 40K or a 30% reduction. I can't see that happening UNLESS Dell sells a group or Org. Maintaing the current portfolio with only 85K employees isn't realistic.

@mpw+1rKz3tG8 We actually sell Absolute software which monitors this.
Make of that what you will but enter your tag number on your laptop into Dell's website and should give you an idea.

I’m convinced there is some metric that the C-Suite developed/saw (some IT tool that tracked beyond badge-ins) that showed tons of people barely working during COVID. And I think the execs had their fill of the shenanigans they saw in those metrics and have decided, enough.

Totally conspiracy theory but I knew of many small companies that openly told their employees they were watching clicks, screens, network data, etc to ensure their employees stayed productive while at home. Do you really believe a company the size of Dell would not do the same spying? Even if they never admitted it, it’s not far fetched to believe they would t do something about it.

Yes below 100 is the goal since last year. Layoff most likely ongoing through next month

If 85k is the goal, it's going to be a rocky and painful ride to get there.

Bain says, Dell does. 100m in revenue is supported by 100K employees. It's a well known fact this is their strategy.
