Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

You do have rights, including the right to seek legal council.

Oh, I’m sure they’ve covered many aspects of their @ss, I have no doubt about that but you still have rights.

Don’t let them intimidate you into thinking that MegaCorp Citi holds all the cards and you have absolutely no recourse whatsoever so don’t even try. Ultimately you’ll be let go but make sure its not for age or that you don’t tic a political agenda box (DEI) so you gotta go. If that comes into question in your mind consult a lawyer.

Many lawyers, if the case is strong enough, would love to make a name for themselves on taking on a Corp big player. Many lawyers will offer an initial free consultation and they’ll tell you at the onset if you have a strong enough case or not. If it is a strong enough case, some will take the case on contingency. They don’t get paid unless you win.

Don’t be intimidated by management and HR on the call. If you want to see them stammer on their speech, you can tell them that you are also recording the conversation and listen to them stutter as they read their script they go through.

As mentioned, you can sue for age discrimination. Also, you have the right to let YOUR OWN lawyer go over any paperwork. If you are pressured to “sign paperwork right now or you get no severance” in order to intimidate you into signing waivers without letting YOUR lawyer looking over them, this too is something that Citi can be sued for. You’ll be without the pay but in the end, you sue for more then your severance. Sue for severance, punitive damages, mental stress and legal fees. Sue for millions and settle for half and move on.

funny story. I spoke to HR twice complaining and asking why I wasn’t promoted. I guess she was ready for me the third time I called because I heard her typing as fast as I was speaking. I right away asked her if she was typing everything I was saying. She got quiet and said oh no, I was just answering an email. I said well it sounded like you were typing as quickly as I am talking and why are you answering emails when you’re talking to me? Coincidentally, right after that, I didn’t hear any more typing I then started asking her questions about retirement just to sc--w with her I had no plans of retiring, and would only leave if I was laid off but I wanted to mess with her Her ears perked up when I started mentioning it. She kept asking when I was leaving and I told her I will let her know. I figured if I said something about retiring, it would get back to my manager because at that point, I wanted to be laid off Lucky for me. Two years later, I was laid off and couldn’t be happier. I waited them out and won

Document every interaction with Citi both in writing, voice and video.

Be careful what you say to HR, it will be held against you.

More importantly, HR, employee relations and Citi ethic hotline is not on your side. they are there to protect Citi.
