The package gets you more money then you would make the whole year depending on your years. They are paying some people for extra months. So 2 months with pay and no Working is SWEET And you can apply for other job openings. What a company???

From another Post: Rule of 60 for more tenured employees. If age + service = 60, you get full 2024 vacation payout regardless of accrued time. by Anonymous Post ID: @vmc+1rFiz8hR There's also the OWBPA. I believe you get an extra 2 to 4 weeks severance in addition to WARN+Severance Based on Service Years + Unused Vacation Days. Older Workers Benefit Protection Act: In 1990, Congress amended the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), adding the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act (OWBPA) to clarify the prohibitions against discrimination on the basis of age. The OWBPA is a federal law that requires employers to offer older workers (those who are at least 40 years old) benefits that are equal to or, in some cases, cost the employer as much as, the benefits it offers to younger workers. The OWBPA also sets minimum standards for an employee waiver of the right to sue for age discrimination, designed to ensure that the waiver is knowing and voluntary. Under the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, employees over 40 are entitled to various employee benefits such as severance pay and cannot be pressured into signing legal waivers. It establishes specific requirements for a “knowing and voluntary” release of ADEA claims to guarantee that an employee has every opportunity to make an informed choice whether or not to sign the waiver. It acts as a safety net to ensure older and vulnerable workers aren’t unfairly laid off from work and don’t experience age discrimination.

"Brace for it. List has been made long back and those impacted ones has been notified already,"

So you're saying that everyone who is getting laid off next week has already been notified?

They definitely asked for volunteers in some circumstances. My group got a very rushed communication from our MD a few weeks ago looking for anyone willing to take their usual severance package. If it was severance plus a bonus I'd have taken it.

They did not ask for volunteers, many of us would go since we can retire. It was rejected.

In other words, you have just confirmed that the OP was wrong and that things are not "starting" on Monday.

100% of level-7 retained in our department today. So looks like level-8 would take the hit next week.

Wrong. Check your other posts. For example, on Thursday it was: "It's started."

Also, you forgot to say, "Good luck to all."
