Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Why are they laying off the SMEs?

I cannot understand why the subject matter experts are being rif'd and the least experienced are being retained?

Kinda weird how many in this thread clearly have no idea what an SME is or how they should be utilized.

If you depend on SME’s to do your job please do everyone a favor. Take your nonsense liberal arts degree and go work at Starbucks. When someone orders a grande latte skinny, please ask one of the other great “Teammates” what the he-l that means!

SME’s are like “I’m from the government and I can help”. If you depend on these geniuses for your job you’re part of the problem not part of the solution. Since the MOE everyone as a majority has acted like they don’t know what they’re doing. A more pathetic culture has never been created and you “Teammates” are a large part of the problem. No wonder motivated and solid people are getting the he-l out of this mo--nic environment. SME’s! You’ve got to be kidding me.

SMEs are probably more expensive than Indian contingent workers but when you really get down to it, EL is full of incompetent simpletons. They're out of their depth and massively insecure about anyone who has technical knowledge or skills because they can't be controlled as easily, are "uppity" and "don't know their place," expected to be treated with basic respect. It all comes down to the fact that Bill, Donta, Scott, etc., have no business being in their jobs and on some level they know it.

It's all about control. The SMEs have way more knowledge than most leadership so they cut them loose and keep the "yes" folks that do as they are told because they have no past experiences to question leaderships motives.

Because Truist seems to be a short-term project. And SME's are likely a touch more expensive. So get rid of 'em. If another bank buys Truist they're going to look at the numbers/profitability... NOT if there are actually "good" employees at Truist.

The mear fact that subject matter expert jobs exist should be enough said about banks today and this one in particular. Do a little LinkedIn snooping, actually found an SME who list being an assistant vice president as well. Absolutely amazing that, never mind, you know what I’m thinking.

Not necessarily when the leadership is one of the inexperienced ones.

SMEs cost more and leadership knows who’s really the smartest kids in the room.
