Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

34th street

So not sure if you heard the news of Sam ash music closing its 34th street store as well as its Edison NJ and 16 more stores location. Sam ash 34th is right next to Macys flagship store and makes me wonder if the foot traffic is going down fast in that area. or has it become unsafe to continue the business with all the shoplifting and crimes and Illegals.

New York City lost nearly 78,000 residents in 2023, shrinking its population to 8.26 million people, according to the estimates, which were released on Thursday. In 2022, it lost more than 126,000 residents. From April 2020 to July 2023, the city lost almost 550,000 residents, or more than 6
percent of its population.
When people were interviewed as to why they were leaving the city it was due to crime.

There are many many many other reasons why a store might be closing. Can be strictly financial, can be internal structural issues, lack public interest in those products, higher rent, online taking over, shifting to online, etc.

How is the closing of 1 store going to destroy street foot traffic? lol Please visit midtown and come back to report how deserted the place is.

You can compare and use it as a gauge. Stores have come and gone on 34th street. It is still a busy area and HSQ is fine. It is not making the money they want, but it is fine. FYI...Sam Ash is closing another store in NYC in Forest Hills.

34th is a very, very busy store. Sam Ash is a garbage store and company and that's the real reason it went belly up
