Does anyone know how long it takes to receive your severance? Is it paid out weekly or one lump sum?

I’d be interested to see what people will get who are allegedly hiring lawyers to negotiate a better severance other than delaying the current amount minus legal fees.
One lump sum after your last day unless you hire counsel to begin a negotiation, which some laid off are doing. In those cases severance isn’t paid out since it’s being negotiated.
I was laid off in February. Severance is a lump sum payment approx 2 weeks after your date of separation.
“ Signing away freedom of speech is certainly a discussion worth having with an attorney.”
Freedom of speech means the GOVERNMENT can’t arrest you for public speech. If it’s more important for you to put TU on blast on all your social media accounts then don’t take the severance payment. Companies aren’t required to pay severance. They do so as an act of good faith (which I know is an ironic thing to say). These types of clauses are common in these agreements. If you think you can get a lawyer to help you negotiate getting paid and retain your ability to publicly shame TU godspeed to you.
Signing away freedom of speech is certainly a discussion worth having with an attorney. An employer offshores US jobs and tries to take away a fundamental American’s right? I don’t think so. Call the lawyer.
You’re playing with fire if you think you can get an attorney to get you more of a severance. And even if you are successful the fees you’d pay the attorney would probably wipe out whatever gains you got.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t thoroughly review your agreement and consult a lawyer if there’s anything you don’t understand or feel comfortable with. You absolutely need to feel 100% confident when you sign it. When I was laid off I read mine over about 8 times and do have a friend who is an attorney look it over for me and told me it was a pretty standard agreement.
The main thing you are agreeing to is not to publicly disparage the company. The severance payout itself should not be a surprise as the policy is available on The Hub and I made sure to validate that my payout matched what it said. So I don’t know that there are any laws being broken here that would get you a bigger payout. But certainly if you feel like you should talk to a lawyer you should.
Don't sign, get an employment lawyer to review it. You will get more money.
If you plan on suing for whatever reason, don’t sign for the severance.
It is paid in a lump sum 2 weeks after your final paycheck if you send back your agreement on or shortly after your separation date.
