job placement resources

does anyone know if the job placement resources offered are worth considering? perhaps know coworkers from the last wave that used those services

We owe the Director or VP from below an apology. CGC does fly out their people to meet with us for the first session with them. I work remotely and the coach lives in the Chicago area and I am just an associate. That said, the initial session was great. The portal their offer seems to be useful and the assigned person that will be available to me for the next three months via email sounds like a good resource but that's still TBD.

I was a sr consultant and got I guess regular service from CGC. The advisor was pretty useless but the canned webinars and live webinars were useful. Their essentials website and tools is really useful--and you'll be able to use it 3 months after the end of your time with CGC.

Challenger Gray & Christmas experience was interesting. They flew a guy to meet me, took me to lunch, and spent the day discussing my expectations. Some of his interview and job search tips had value. Then he passed me on to another "coach" who stood me up 3 weeks in a row for teleconferences.

Their resume writing service and their AI-powered candidate portal are all things you can do through LinkedIn and ChatGPT. I will say that the LinkedIn Profile Analysis also had value, so much so that I recreated it in a Google Sheet and am performing the service for free to my trusted friends and colleagues.

I wish TU would have just paid me what they paid CG&C. I could have made another truck payment! (or 3) lol

I used it, it was horrible, their resume tips were useless and it took forever for them to respond to emails. I was supposed to meet with them weekly but they never set up time and every time I asked them to meet, they made excuses that they had conflicts. It took them 2 weeks for them to review my resume and came back with horrible useless edits. They ghosted me about 1 month in when they said we have 2 months of their services. I just took the service so I could make TU pay for other unnecessary things. I would say do it, but don't expect much from them.

I used the services too from challenger. I was in the 2/2 wave. Not only will they rewrite your resume and provide tips for LinkedIn, but they have free webinars to help you build up your interviewing skills, LinkedIn and other aspects you need for a job. They also give you free access to a AI portal that further customizes your resume or CV. You will need this in job searching these days! I was skeptical at first but it’s free, why not use it?
If you don’t feel the coach is helping ask for someone in your field

Something tells me associates aren't going to have anyone flown to them and get personalized attention for a full day. Your lack of perspective is embarrassing. As well as needing help with your resume even though you're a former VP. Reports I heard from the working stiffs you and your cohorts failed is that the value of the service they have been receiving is slim and none.

I was a VP, not that it matters now. Another former TU employee I know got the same service as a Sr. Director. I don't know what folks at other levels got, but I hope it was the same. It's a worthwhile service.

Actually, TU's outplacement services are with top firm, Challenger, Gray & Christmas. I was laid off with the 2/2 group. They actually flew someone into Austin to meet with me all day. Someone reviewed my Linkedin profile and made valuable recommendations. Someone rewrote my resume for me. Now I get someone weekly to coach me on my ongoing search. That's much more professional development than I received in my entire 3 years at TU.
