Suppressing The Voice of Employees at SAP - part II

CK finally visited Prague. The organizers allowed only 300 people to join in person (less than a third of the employees). The rest could join via the livestream (the comments were of course disabled).
Prior to the meeting, the employees got a link to submit and upvote questions, promising that the most voted questions will be presented to CK. Just before the meeting, the link got disabled. Only one question was asked.
The questions from the room were clearly pre-approved.

CK was laughing when talking about lack of proper salary raises, despite Czech Republic having costs of life comparable to Germany. His argument for the lack of those was that when he was living in NY, he could not afford to live in Manhattan either.
RTO? Apparently, it's necessary to make career! People wanted to know the stats, some reason behind the decision, all they got was another BS justification.

Overall - CK likes to humble brag about how he also had it hard in life and he understands the struggles. Another BS - he is a rich son of a rich daddy and a minion of HP. He doesn't care about people (constant smirks and laughs when talking about topics which are serious for us), he doesn't care about one of the biggest SAP locations in Europe and he doesn't care if we quit. He doesn't want to break the promise made to the stakeholders. Verbatim.

Do as I say, not as I do. Sums up the values leadership talks about at SAP. CK even admits he should not have focused on “tell it like it is” once people started calling him out for not telling it like it is.

Nicely sums up the life of a CEO. Win win or win some more.

Imagine unironically saying you want Elon to be your CEO.

I am no longer at SAP, left after decades and watching the CK debacle for a couple of years.

He showed the same behavior back when he became co-CEO and was visiting our location. He couldn’t even sit straight in the chair, was just lounging around with a bored expression in his face or smirking at questions. He has enabled some of the most vile leaders underneath him.

You all deserve better.

Yes, SAP needs to lose the suits and the sweet talkers!! The rest of the tech world has moved on.

It’s time a techie took over the top job. Non techies do not last long here, history says so. Techies on the other hand feel the pulse of the products and help navigate it keeping customers in mind. Just listened to Jensen Huang of NVIDIA yesterday, what a legend he is. Similarly Elon and there are many.

Both of these comments are sadly quite accurate!

I would really, really like to write about how surprised I am about the news in this post.

ICK’s actions and communication style really remind me of a child pretending to be a CEO and that is probably what he is.
He is after all, the product of a privileged background, obtained a position at SAP through his connections & previously mentioned background. He was “mentored and groomed” for the top job by HP. He clearly doesn’t have any idea about how to behave, think strategically or move the business forward. Instead, he follows what every other CEO in tech does (except for the truly successful ones) . This is evidenced by the rescission of most of the Flex Work plan, layoffs in ‘23 & ‘24 & the tightening of the performancd review process. All of which were announced well after other tech companies announced their plans for the same. AI is the latest (and late to the party), hip “decision” that he has made.
