Those laid off, any of your managers call to check in to see how you were doing or if you needed help finding a new job?
I haven't heard from any of my old "Dell Family" managers, just curious if it's the same for everyone else.

I’m a manager (UK) and I’ve contacted and checked in with everyone person I was FORCED to let go. I didn’t get a say, it was literally handed to me.
Believe it or not, some people do care.
I was a a manager for 5 years, let go last year, heard my director told everyone on my team NOT to contact me. Total Dell silence for over 1 year now. It was just a job, once your out your toast. Treat people that way. Agree with other posts in this thread. NO family at all, just working relationships which end quickly
Why would I want to hear from a manager? I left there more than 5 years ago, but I can honestly say the only interaction I had with my last manager was the day they laid off most of my team. In two years, I didn’t get one single email from them. Not one “good job”, not one “are we on schedule”, or even one “I’ll be out next week”. He held ZERO meetings, conveyed no information to his team, and (as far as I can tell) made no inquiries about the team. He sat about 20 yards from my desk for 2 years, and I had no idea what he looked like until the day we all got laid off. Until then, I wasn’t sure if he was a fictional character or not. If he didn’t even talk to me while I was there, why would I expect it after?
The "Dell family" talk is the most condescending bull that anyone can commit to type. We are family when it suits. That's not how family works I'm afraid.
I don't think anyone had any expectations of their old managers giving a $hit about them after they leave. I think this thread confirms that Dell was just a job and all the "cheerleader" antics, and great job motivators and "FAMILY" are all BS. Treat is as such.
WERE you born yesterday
I would rather eat gla.ss than ever hear from my former manager again
When the
then, dont believe the "family" statements from the manager.
Of course, my manager told the team that he was conflicted by my layoff.
I know, he positioned me for layoff because his friend's project got scraped. And he didn't want to layoff his friend of 15 yrs.
He thinks no one knows this in the organization.
Why would you expect them to call you? HR would be responsible for any placement assistance promised.
I suspect they have been told not to contact anyone that was let go.
Don’t be surprised when sh!t people exhibit sh!t behavior.
Avoid.
And don’t waste time energy waiting for them to behave in a way that is simply not in their nature.
Doing so may be seen as legitimate reasons for legal action from person let go.
( harassment , use of not public information - as telephone number - or attempt to change the outcome of planned legal action against company by ex-employee )
it won't ever happen .
It can happen after office hours from private phone of non-manager person - so simply put your ex-work-pall
Didn’t have any expectations of it, but I was curious if everyone else had the same experience.
they will never do such thing , sorry to say but it is naif to even thinking that way ! good luck !
