Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Good Companies Promote From WithIn - TDC Did The Opposite

Teradata brought in numerous unqualified outsiders to fill all the key positions (ME, RP, ET, NC, TC, HA, JW, etc. and their directors, so the smart employees saw there was no upward mobility for them and left for greener pastures. Plus they hired a rookie CEO who is in way over his head. Now, all that is left are average workers who can't find outside jobs and outsider ELT members and their directors who do not know the business or industry. This will be part of the case study.

Check out their LinkedIn profiles and many had no experience in the analytics and database industry. Working for Oracle, Microsoft and IBM doesn’t mean you worked in the analytics space. You can’t manage and lead what you don’t know.

At least when you look in the mirror you don’t see an a$$ kisser looking back! Good for you.

I was hired as Senior Director just to get RIF'd after a year. And during this time I did nothing but busting my a** to get stuff done. Now I recognize that I should have devoted all my time there to just kiss a**. The folks who did that are just fine.

The sad part is that these low qualified outsiders bring other ones, whose main quality is being loyal... I literally had to laugh at one of them, demonstrated inability to manage a complex organisation.

I've given up ever going higher. Directors hate having people smarter than them and ELT are scared of someone who will make a difference.

They would rather get rid of someone who has skills and talent than promote them.

You forgot KCC, MA, CB, DS, SB - were there any promotions from within the past 5 years other than MT? Crazy

Amen to this thread! I left years ago once I saw they only valued outsiders. I only worked for RP three months. Still can’t believe they put her in charge of Engineering???

The internal pulse surveys show that employees feel like they are often overlooked for internal roles. No wonder they get disheartened when they lose out to an external candidate who comes in, has zero experience and from day 1 starts making mistakes.

One only has to look at the rookie mistakes the entire ELT make on a daily basis. Just atrocious, basic errors that 1st year business students would easily avoid.
