Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Grateful to VMware

Grateful to VMware for all they did for me over the years. For the friends I've made, and the career opportunities I now have that I've declined my offer. I for one will not be calling the company or solutions now that I'm leaving, I hope you won't either. Definitely if you have friends who still work here.

I see people like Bob on Linkedin recommending competitor products and I think it comes across as bitter and unprofessional. 23 years he had out of the place, I'm sure he did alright. Do you agree?

If you've got half and brain and remotely techincal, you know who Bob is

Oh, THAT Bob.
License management was mishandled on an epic level for the last 20 years.
Their solution to the problems it caused was to cause even more problems.
That he seems proud of the system is an epic self-own on his part.

"There are a very small number of people who have 23 years at vmware."

Perhaps, but there are plenty that have hung around for 10-15 years. Longevity is rarely a case of a variety of different skills and experiences. More like the same 2 years repeated over and over. IMHO, mediocrity is a reason why VMware has lost its competitive edge.

I liked Bob. Not anymore and unfollowed him on LinkedIn. Really bitter and unprofessional.

His posts seem very bitter and unprofessional.

Had a good laugh when he said that he’s proud of having managed the licenses and he’s not responsible for the new model. While it’s a fair point saying he wasn’t responsible for what came, it’s not that the old licensing was great. It was an absolute sh-tshow too.

There are a very small number of people who have 23 years at vmware.
They'd have to have been employed in 2001/2002.
At that time, there was only one office and everyone could fit in it for all hands with Diane.
I don't know who Bob is.

Bob is doing what he is doing either because he is bitter or because of what he is doing for his new job.

I always wondered what the fu-k he is doing all day. Actually the same applies to the ‘technologists’ that seem to play with home labs all day and are P6.5 or something.

I'm going to assume that Bob.

Whose whole job was to manually do something that could be easily automated while writing essays of emails on how to contact him.

Whatever. A job is a job. He has spent 20+ years here but he doesn't owe them loyalty. We refrain of making fun of our many issues for job security, not for loyalty to our company. Once gone, yeah, stop hiding the huge glaring issues in our product and how competitors have been doing it better. And, now, cheaper.
