I mean, profit was ONLY $22.4 billion. Guess we can expect more layoffs. Right? Why wouldn’t there be more money to share among leadership and shareholders? Let's kick out those who actually made this money!

They’ve gutted benefits, offshored so much, got rid of the Bravo! Monetary compensation… what’s left?
“Be thankful you have a job!”
The massive spousal surcharge you get if your spouse has insurance offered by their employer, even if their plan is dog $hit, so you have to manage multiple plans and networks, but hey, UHG cares about you and your family. Right?
Let’s not forget the thousands of layoffs over 2023 and they’re not done. Now it’s the cuts to the reimbursement rates so only the execs get their money. And they have the audacity to wonder why burnout is high?
UHG/Optum was deeply affected by the decreases in CMS reimbursement rates, I've heard $1-3 billion net profit impact per year, going forward. I was laid off after getting 4's and 5's every year for 16 years.
Not being apologetic for the company, but they have to appease Wall Street and make up those losses with less expenses.
Sc-mbag Witty and crew have ruined this company. not even fearful of a layoff, kind of hoping for one after the cr-p merit i got.
I was a victim of the layoffs last week. The “re-deployment” team has been no help whatsoever. Most of the recruiters could care less about helping the ones affected. Starting to amp up external searches in hopes that I can put this immoral and unethical company in my rear view.
Was your RRP enough to pay for the croissant?
Yah, su-ks if you worked hard all year and bought into the company B.S. On a positive note, I had an egg, sausage, and cheese sandwich on a croissant this morning. It was pretty tasty.
I don't believe one word that comes out of the mouths of anyone in "leadership".
Essentially, whatever they say..it's the opposite.
30+ are getting WAY less than last. 0% merit, and much bigger impact to them from RRP hit. I wouldn't call it "socialism", but the previous poster is dead on with everything else.
But looking at what many employees got as far as raises and bonus, it’s only a slight bit less than last year. I don’t agree with notion of a socialist structure. Socialism would not allow for promotions and I have been promoted based on merit. If you feel you are not paid what you put in, leave.
Yes what the other reply said… they want people to leave. That way they don’t have to pay out severance and as a side win they can continue to offshore or automate many roles.
Think about it for a GL30-31 and maybe even 32’s. 0% merit this year. They typically make $150k+, so they’re subsidizing insurance premiums for those at the lower grades (lower grade will pay something like 35% of what a GL30+ does for insurance). Given there won’t be merit this year, that’s even more loss against inflation.
Welcome to socialism, those at the top will still get theirs. Mid level management is being pushed down and now subsidizing the lower levels by giving up pay increases and getting hit with paying triple for benefits. SLT/ELT+ will get equity and their compensation won’t be greatly impacted. Witty and others will get massively rewarded because it actually was a stellar year and their contracts allow for it.
So yes, they’re hoping people leave.
They’re lying to us to make it seem that we didn’t do well last year. Corporate greed at its finest. I also believe they are doing this on purpose to get people to leave on their own accord so they can offshore as much as possible. India is the cheap labor capital of the world to this company
