I'm a realist, I know layoffs are not going to stop any time soon. As long as they can find people who want to do the same jobs we do much cheaper, Nielsen management will be doing it. The only thing that will change is severance, which will continue to go down in the future. I'd rather cash out now for a decent sum than later for peanuts.

People with long tenure at Nielsen will struggle when they enter the job market.
This long tenure has lead to them having very specialized skills that are not transferable to new jobs.
They will need retraining which, will be difficult due to the cuts in the severance packages that Nielsen is offering
Untrue. I am one of those people and having several years at a company as big as a Nielsen is impressive to hiring managers. They have told me as much. As ling as you have a skills that are not Nielsen specific, like Google, or Excel or Altyrx or SQL or salesforce, etc., you will be fine, the real problem is the saturated talent pool because of all of the tech layoffs recently, that will be the biggest problem
Mangers are asking people to look the other way when errors happen as everyone will soon be gone and going through the PIP process is more trouble than it is worth at this time.
I would very much like it if they could do voluntary layoffs. I'd be out the door so fast. I'd rather get paid for five weeks and have 8 hours+ per day that I can use to go to interviews and "pound the pavement" per se. Right now, I am forced to quiet quit and hold out for a new job or a severance, whichever comes in first. And, quiet quit I have done indeed! My manager even said that HR is spread so thin that even simply disciplinary actions are taking weeks to push through, so if I were to get fired for basically not doing any work, it wouldn't be for another 6-8 weeks anyway. However, I'm not trying to press my luck either. I just do the minimums expected of me and not a bit more.

I'd rather have been laid off a decade ago when they tried sending jobs to India before and severance was still two weeks/year and I was in a better position to pivot my career
I left Nielsen about 3 years ago for a better paying job. I wish I got laid off at that time with a severance and my current job lined up instead of quitting with no severance.

real deep insight with your latest post hahahaha . there's a lot of pain in here with some of us LONG tenured employees losing decades of service and saying good bye to deep long trusted relationships built over quality and commitment to excellence
take your schillings and get out of here. We tenured people who raised the flag each day and changed the landscape of the industry as we know it today that are feeling the pain.
