Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Does cracking whip really work? Lessons not learned.

Sure it works for a bit but in the end the do more with less. Have more aggressive deadlines and complicate processes does not provide the long term results you may want.

Result is, you have employees doing the work of 2-3 people, finding ways to circumvent safe guards and complicated processes, to meet the aggressive deadlines to keep from getting on “the list” of people that get laid off. Risk goes up, problems occur and you may get fined here and there. Rinse, repeat.

So, related or not related, the stock goes down to a very low point in 3 three years of new management. What do we do? We do more with less, shorten the deadlines and complicate processes. Its the ouroboros, the snake eating its own tail, a representative of never ending eternity.

Some would say that we got rid of 300 MD to simplify layers. Not so much. We let go 300 MD all to hire 304 as a replacement.

Post ID: @kex+1r4EQ5D6 You should collect all the evidence and document everything and then sue Citi to kingdom come because you were set up to fail.

I can’t tell you how many times a shortened deadline would be given, so everyone rushes, mistakes are made and the investigation begins. Calls to vendors, tagging internal experts, on and on. Afterwards a call is held to figure out the big mystery as to what the root cause was and what could be done better. If someone mentions not having an aggressive deadline, they get both shut down and shot down on such a notion.

So many issues from regulators regarding risk approach, I wonder how no action is taken on Chief Risk Officer

In jan of 23 i got layered and in our team 2 colleagues were removed and other 2 including me ended up doing their work on top of our own, yet the amount of work only increased, processes got more complicated which led to trouble meeting deadlines even when working late hours and some weekends. Yet when the year end review came, i got blamed for every single thing that went wrong and none of the good things I did were mentioned at all, none of the late hours and weekends I put in, extra work I had to take up. As a result got all 4s and no raise or bonus for that year. In my close to 15 year career i had terrible managers but my current one is just out of this world. I already got told that I will be removed from my current team end of the month, really hope I get laid off and never step foot in this company ever again

There are other psychological games that managers do and its not only crack the whip... Not much safety here.
