Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

State Street status?

As a lot of people know the lower level candy section of the iconic Marshall Field’s flagship has closed! Makes me wonder if the store itself is going to last much longer. They already took out the central atrium and sold off the upper floors…
I’m scared that they are going to close the store soon. That would be a big big mistake!!!!

Back in the day when it was Marshall Field’s I’d make the 80 mile trip just to see the windows when they changed out! Walking through the store was a day trip to see all the fashion and the inspiring displays. Sigh, I couldn’t afford them 🫤 but they brought on the fantasy…
I haven’t been back there in like 10 years, like seriously, WHY!???

It’s Sugar is now there, and they will soon be selling bulk candy. No need for a Macys candy department when they have a lease business doing the same.

State Street isn't necessarily the performer it used to be, but it still does very well for us and I'd have no concerns about closure. Bloomingdale's on Michigan Ave is a similar situation, it's not what it used to be but still does well and recently got a big remodel. Retail in Downtown Chicago has been hurting ever since Covid but is finally starting to recover.

State Street just got new Ralph Lauren and Finish Line shops as well, so the company is continuing to invest in the store.

The company is not doing well, it makes sense that they sell some of the expensive real estate they own so they can recover a little

That store has been failing apart from the inside out for years. Me and my team have gotten stuck on the elevator. The walls in the back rooms, 2b and 3b are crumbling. And then there is the mold.
