Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Get paid for volunteering before you leave

I've worked within this organization for years and am tired. Like many of you, I'm exploring other opportunities as soon as the bonus is paid out in March. In all my time here, and with all of the bosses I've had, no one has ever shared the opportunity to get paid for volunteering in your community. UnitedHealth only pays $10/hour for every hour you've volunteered, but you can get up to $500 per calendar year.

Obviously I'm not condoning submitting hours that you haven't volunteered, but if you have volunteered, get what's yours before you go.

Search "Volunteering" within Sparq.

The reimbursement for volunteer work goes to the agency that you did it for, not to the employee. You have to submit it through the social responsibility page in Sparq and log in your hours and the agency info and it’s non profit tax ID 501c3 # and the agency gets $500.00 award sent to them electronically, after UHC employee completes 30 hours of voluntary work for the same non profit.

And UnitedHealth's grossly overblown, for-profit health structure, at the expense of humans needing timely, affordable care, is not in the spirit of healthcare.

"...if you have volunteered, get what's yours before you go" : this view is not in the spirit of volunteerism.

You don’t get paid. You can accrue up to $500.00 and then choose to whom you want it donated.

You do not personally get paid, but rather the entity with which you volunteered.
