Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Managers signing NDAs?

I was talking with someone today and they said managers and directors have been required to sign NDAs regarding the layoffs? I guess this means that managers are going to know something in advance. Hopefully someone will spill the beans here... Anybody else hear something about management signing NDAs?

Heard managers up signed NDAs. Supervisor level has not been told much yet. Don’t think managers know specifics but probably numbers for their respective areas.

"From the beginning it has been my belief that the managers need to know at some point."

Nope. Managers don't get to know in advance. Directors have a better line of sight, but managers are running blind.

"Honestly this would make me sleep way better at night if someone who actually knows my value has a say in whether ok not I stay."

Again (sadly), nope. The point is to eliminate roles. Who is in those roles isn't important to those making the decisions. It's too easy to justify keeping any one individual, so they don't ask people to make the justification.

it's very specifically not personal.

I was told first hand by a Director during the VWO they were given an NDA and then the list of who was chosen after VP received it.

From the beginning it has been my belief that the managers need to know at some point. They definitely have more direct knowledge of peoples performance and will hopefully be given the opportunity to make a couple of last minute changes. (For example 2 people in the same position and the company has chosen to keep the lower value employee)
Honestly this would make me sleep way better at night if someone who actually knows my value has a say in whether ok not I stay. As opposed to someone I’ve never met picking me off a piece of paper.
