Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Terribly cruel and unhealthy

For a company that boasts its investment and focus on employee health, wellbeing and a family first culture, it is terribly cruel and unethical to behave this way.

To leave your staff worrying for over a week about job and financial stability, while news sources have been reporting the pending layoffs.

A motto that historically represents a slow death and is the antithesis of positive growth and progress.

Thanks for restating a subset of what I already said. We'll add the lack of reading skills to the reasons behind the rest of my post: "Cisco needs to make far deeper cuts."

Public companies legally cannot comment during a quiet period. If you don't know this you should be fired for incompetence.

And if you make it through this round of layoffs, what are you going to do about it? Absolutely nothing but stick around and go right back to “Cisco is family”.

if you buy into the Cisco family BS and have your identity all wrapped up in who you work for you need to really do some soul searching. Family doesnt fire family when the going gets tough and Cisco could care less about how you feel.

It's not just Chuckie and Fran; it's more Maria, Alistair, and those incompetent leaders who work for them (not all there are a few really good ones). This is more Maria than anything investing too much in CX, which is a disaster; it's been done at the expense of the rest of the company. How's the CX organization working out? It was going to be the "growth" of Cisco. Customers think it's a joke. So many investment dollars have gone into CX it's drained the rest of the company.

Su-k it up, buttercup. Welcome to working in tech in the 2000's. It's a similar story everywhere, even in start ups. The cheap money infusion to float questionable business models has dried up. Gotta be able to really make a buck to push the stock price up now.

Over a week?

At least it’s not before Thanksgiving or Christmas. At least it’s not right after they said cuts were over for the year. At least it’s not lingering for months. End of 1H hits different. EOY hits harder. How many family vacations have been ruined by emotional trauma?

It's been that way for 23 years. The fact that people are still just discovering this means Cisco needs to make far deeper cuts.
