Never thought that I would be starting over in my 40s after being with the company almost 20 years. And from what I’m seeing, the job market is not looking good. I’ll be competing against younger cheaper talent. Any kind of pay cut will be hard on me and my family.

It’s all very confusing.
In my 50’s with job skills that are obsolete in today’s job market.
Gave Nielsen all I had for 25 years; future looks dim.
If you're willing to retrain, go now to Coursera, Python 4 everyone or Open Edg to get a couple certifications under your belt. Become a contracted worker if necessary and network. You can get ideas from chat GPT for side hustle ideas like a YouTube channel. It's rough out there but don't give up !

He will always provide. Make sure you know Him! "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4
Same here, I'm so depressed. My experience here does not make me competitive in the job market, my savings are a pittance because pay hasn't kept up with inflation. My partner doesn't have health insurance offered through their work. We have two young kids, a mortgage, two old cars and nowhere else to go. I can't sleep.
I hate competition. Applying for new jobs these days always feels like I'm in a marathon I do not want to be in. Also, I'm still here, and it is really hard to feel motivated to do any work. What do I have to work for? Hang in there until I get my severance? This is truly humiliating and completely beneath my dignity. But, they have me by the ba--s. I belong to them until something else comes along.

I understand - in my 50's, 30 years in with 15 left till retirement (maybe). The current job market is cr-p! I'm so defeated!
