Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Optimistic for once

There is so much negativity on this board...i am actually finally optimistic and, believe me, I have hugely critical and very disappointed for the past few years.

We have finally got out of the disastrous smartwatch "adventure", while at the same time the smartwatch threat is receding and was a real tsunami for our price segment...focus is back on storytelling and branding and the last campaign was quite beautiful and well executed....obviously it will take time but the direction is finally on I can see consumers buying into...new leadership (Holly etc) may not be to everyone"s taste but i think they know what they are doing and are playing by current market rules, not the ones Kosta wished were still true from 20 years ago.

So, here I say it, the worst is behind and things are looking up!

Now you can pile on...I am ready!

To halfull the company was great for years selling watches to boomers who have now largely aged out of buying watches. Kors blew up the revenues during their heyday but the company could not build another brand to the same level. Millennial and Gen Z spend their discretionary $ elsewhere and the brand portfolio names are apparently not appealing to them. Fossil will survive in a much smaller way or get.bought by private equity, merged with Movado, etc.

@4yqj+1r21eshF : why are you still here and/or why aren't you in a management position given you know all the answers??

i hear for years and years that we should get to make good looking products and telling nice stories instead of chasing smartwatches with time and money...the assessment was correct (although in fairness google did not help) ...but now we are out and doing exactly that...ie our core products and storytelling, but here we are again with only complaints...

Either, Fossil was never good and just got lucky for a few years, or the only way to save it is this one and i choose and i prefer to be optimistic...maybe you should try it too!

It is blatantly evident @Halffull that you have not been with this company for a significant duration and that you don’t have much experience at all.

Feels like people posting here are either frustrated investors (can't blame them) or disgruntled ex employees (can't blame them either(.

However, some changes I see are good and consumers are responding. Time will tell but without an optimistic attitude for sure there is no chance.

are you serious? we are supposed to be a data driven company.
is there something i miss from our quarterly releases and stocks?
when you will come up with POSITIVE numbers I can trust on you.
Until you come up with NO numbers you are just another one with a personal opinion.

That’s nice but most of us are overworked and severely underpaid 🤡

Funny how there’s always a “things aren’t so bad guys!” toned posting right before the annual layoff cycle/ performance reviews. Or it’s a high enough mid-level manager or supervisor who just can’t stop drinking the kool-aid and hopes their brown-nosing will get them extra blood money bonus this year.

Glad @Halffull is optimistic. The continuously dwindling stocks currently at an all time low still leaves me pessimistic!

Not worth responding as you clearly have no idea how business works.
