So far I know Denver, Elko and Eugene all lost mech employees. Is there any news of more coming or what’s coming next? This company is so tight lip when it comes to up and coming events. I just want to know if I should be planning on finding other sources of income. The weight of waiting for that call to not come back is rough. This company use to care about employees families and values and we all know that no longer exist. Any information is appreciated.

You’re wrong thinking that uprr used to care! I’ve been here for 25 years and they never cared. The old guys when I was a young guy hated the company just as much as I do now! When I was young I wondered why, now I get it!
If you work at UP make sure you have a backup plan.
UP is going to cut more at Stockton and
Roseville yard, Mechanical and Carman
That kinda happened already. Your man vena or maybe Eric was crying about people "abusing" sick days
Tomorrow will be a tough day, for crybaby Eric.. I hope he can survive with his undeserved salary he gets

We should have nationwide sick day! Every single non manager call and get sick day. First shift second shift and third shift. That would hurt for 24 hours.
They will keep cutting until the profit line goes up. The only difference this time is they aren't harping about the operating ratio.
If they do cut the west do you think that will end the layoffs? Or will they keep cutting?
I dont think anyone really knows except for those at HQ. But I started seeing the rumors here about the layoffs and then a few days later it happened at my location (one of those you mentioned). I'm not affected yet, but I'm getting my ducks in a row at home in case the west coast gets shutdown. Where there's smoke, there's fire? Hopefully not, but I want to be ready.
UP would fire Mother Teresa, the Pope or the Dalai Llama at any given time. If you work at UP, you better have a backup plan.
