Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Feel bad for the people joining

Most of them are lured into Citi with big $$ and then find out they landed in a wasteland and bonuses are the worst. Then it’s all about survival and Lord of the Flies.

You may as well forget about banking and winning deals in the marketplace, as you must focus on CYA, and without these skills you’ll fade to irrelevance without regularly closing deals.

Citi is where good bankers go to die.

Good luck folks, may the odds be in your favor. The smartest have assessed this and are moving out ASAP. Although Citi’s reputation at other institutions is fading fast.

When you are looking for a new job you have to be informed and research the company. This company is constantly all over the media due to the mess it's in. I don't know why someone would join right now unless they are desperate or need want to have a higher title. It's just not a good time to come on board this ship right now.

Post ID: @4qvz+1r06Pdmh You need to add another group to your post. The only employees who end up staying in Citi are the below average or mediocre employees who can Not get hired or promoted at Goldman, BofA, JPMC, Barclays, Morgan Stanley etc.. There are also former Goldman, JPMC, etc. employees who were FIRED there and ended up staying in Citi. Several posters stated that there's a former JPMC VP who was VP for 15 years, could Not get promoted at JPMC, but Lo and Behold the former JPMC VP was hired by Citi as a Director ! ROTFLMFAO ! One Employer's Trash is another's (Citi's) Treasure ! LOL ! The other group of employees who end up staying in Citi are the ones from worse off companies, worse than Citi, lower caliber financial institutions, e.g. Jefferies, BNY Mellon.

Lured ??? The correct word is Svckered. The only employees who end up staying in Citi are the below average or mediocre employees who can Not get hired at Goldman, BofA, JPMC, Barclays, Morgan Stanley etc.. And the only employees who end up staying in Citi are the ones from worse off companies, worse than Citi, lower caliber financial institutions.

There’s a bunch of white or Asian men at the top running the bank. Most over 50 or 60. Jane is a machine, hired to wield an axe and operates with zero empathy. That’s why her whole exco is basically made up of men. Its disgusting. Get out. Get out. Get out.

Why do you feel bad for the people joining? As if they don’t know what they’re getting themselves into?

DEI is a total sham. Hired a bunch just to meet numbers and acted like they care. They do not. Everyone you see that has participated in DEI were in it to get ahead. Some are genuinely helpful, but most disappeared once they move up.

As a woman, I feel that its difficult to work with inexperienced, competent female DEI hires who barely, if at all, meet the bar. They are hired to just tic the box, then everyone else, like me, has to cover for them to “make sure” they succeed. I then feel the need to overcompensate with extra hours just to prove that I’m not like “them”. I worked very hard to gain the knowledge and skills that I have. Its not fair to move the requirement line just to tic a political box.

Same here. Joined two years ago. As a woman, very difficult to work with highly incompetent and highly egoistic male coworkers. Even if you genuinely want to do the right thing for Citi, arrogance and unprofessional behavior of coworkers tops the culture. Praying everyday for a change for better.

That is true. I never believed bonuses can be so small in terms of percentages, given the big base salary Citi offers. Quite a stupid way to attract people. I am already looking for a new company after only 2 years in my current role. Ridiculous
