Dish is offering me Staff software engineer for AEM. TC is around 165K. But I heard most of people are saying it's not safe and they can layoff me anytime. My current TC is 135k. Should I join Dish.

Idk how much you value a 30k bump but you sure couldn’t get me to go back there for a 30k more.
@ if you complain, you will be told that is evidence you aren't "Dish Material"."
This pretty much sums up Dish's attitude towards its employees making it a toxic workplace in every way.
The SW group of DBS is a good organization (or used to be) in a bad company. Same with the HW group in the same building. There was a time they had a level of separation from the "Dish mothership" and it was almost like working in a normal engineering company (2008-2012 or so). But Dish su-ked that organization back in around 2016 and it started downhill from there. In short, you are a Dish employee. The treatment you receive will be on par with what they treat the minimum wage installers or call center techs. They are 95% of the employees, so 100% of the policies are based on them.
The few people I still know there say that whole organization is just waiting on the axe to fall. You are walking into a very negative, doomed environment. Maybe they make it. Maybe they don't. But you are going to be treated like you are untrustworthy, you boss is going to be MADE to check your hours even if he trusts you, they are going to act like whatever work you do isn't up to "their standards" in an effort to further motivate you and if you complain, you will be told that is evidence you aren't "Dish Material". If you are a SW engineer making 135k a year now, you aren't Dish Material.
Up to you, but understand that what you are walking into isn't like anything you've ever seen before. And no one leaves there and says "Yea - that was a good career move and time well spent". Odds are you'll be walked to the door by security sometime over the next couple of years with zero severance pay. Know what you are signing up for.
it depends on how much you like abuse.
if you repeatedly slam the refrigerator door on your private parts and are happy with the result, then petri-dish is the place for you.
You should keep looking. Dish is a subpar company that thinks too highly of itself. The benefits aren't good and the company is even worse. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dish filing for bankruptcy within 2-5 years. Management at all levels and all divisions are horrible. This is a conpany that preaches leadership, but doesn't understand a thing about it. Run as far away as you can from Dish. I am trying to.
EchoStar/Dish's Software team is desperate for a staff level employee now. The job would last for a while as their DBS business still has a few millions of subscribers to serve. I would negotiate for 190K-200K, however. There is no job would last a long time even your current 135K one.
Dish has had a lot of layoffs this year -including software engineers with many years of experience - and it would definitely be reasonable to expect more, and they do not offer severance unless legally required (ie. 2 months, when they hit the warn threshold). Personally, an extra 30k/year would be worth the risk for me but that's to you (fwiw, dish also offers subpar insurance, PTO, 401k - but I'm assuming you've already accounted for that).
Absolutely not! It would be a temporary job and Dish offers no severance. Toxic company that does not value its people. Lackluster benefits that may cost you more than your current benefit structure. SINKING SHIP!!
