Gearing up for yet another round of layoffs in Q1 2024. Sr Mgt confirmed 1/17/24; a Manager I was to be offered a role with had to pull a requisition back due to layoff advisement at senior levels of their area. This is to be company wide. Layoffs every quarter consistently it feels like. UHC / Optum has been able to skirt the WARN act law, because it's state based not company based. So the mass layoffs of 22-25% of the company have to be by state to be out of compliance. Because they're not by state, UHC gets away with it. (That is directly from Department of Labor.) Additionally - watch out for mass hiring events to be conducted afterwards, just like they did in late Q3/early Q4. 3 Remote hiring events and Job Fairs were published on job search platforms, and sent out to many job seekers via email. Literally a punch in the face.

Just stay and do the least work possible. This way, you get your own bonus. Sit on your couch or lie in bed and "work from home". It is easy, nobody notices and if they do, you get severance.
The weak. Laughable more like strong performers that are paid well. Also watch out for the coworkers who will literally take out your entire team with lies, narcissism to weak leaders in the name of DEI with threats .

Weak? More like the what’s left are the su-k ups, brown nosers, narcissists and sociopaths which is the only adaptation taking place here. Company continues to get worse and worse due the the a-hole gene that is passed on as part of “evolution”. Not being selected means you are doing something right.
Natural selection. The weak are purged. Crying unfair just makes it pathetic.
As long as the brownies keep breeding (what else is there to do?), there will be endless hordes or low-quality, cheap labor willing to work 80 hours a week following a script and Googling for Optum.
It's how America and Humanity fails. The end has begun. Not Optums fault. Wait for the big cash out by the wealthy.

IMHO - unlikely. The company needs to cut because they continue to acquire other businesses and there is a lot of duplication. They don't need all of the employees of the acquired company. They also need to make their target numbers for the board and shareholders. SO, IT likely will NEVER stop. As an employee, it's kinda hard to live thinking you don't know when it may happen to you.
There is no end in site. Must increase shareholder value by cutting expenses and increasing profits.
