Nothing about layoffs this month in the WARN report for Google or Alphabet. Lots of companies seem to be getting around the reporting requirement.

Yeah, i dont see anything on WARN.
It seems many Google employees were given 60 days of severance pay to fulfil the WARN act since Google laid off more than 500 employees within a 30 day period (see below). As long as an employee stays on the job and gets paid for 60 days, or gets any type of severance is given by the company that amounts to 60 days of pay, then WARN requirements are satisfied.
Amazon is more clever: axing employees for cause (aka PIP) which does not apply to WARN.
Mass layoff occurs under the WARN Act when:
- At least 50 employees are laid off during a 30-day period, if the total number of laid-off employees made up at least 1/3 of the workforce of the company.
- 500 employees are laid off during a 30-day period, no matter how large the workforce. [This applies to Google]
- If an entire work site is closed down.
