Store managers have received their manager headcount’s and will be communicating to those affected on 1/18. Corporate will take some major cuts, but at the colleague level all is well. Over the last few years we haven’t taken manager cuts to reflect the cuts in colleagues. Macys is re-evaluating the leadership headcount in doors to match the dwindling colleague population.

Getting ready to eat a big dinner, food coma and emotionally check out
It’s tomorrow. Calls first then announcements.
How man captains in stores? I know of Dock, Visual, Fulfillment, AYS, and Customer Experience Captains. Any others??
Here we are at Wednesday night and no press releases on store closings
Part of me wonders that if my manager (in corp) doesn't see it or heard anything, could she be on the axe list....
IF
there is a list?
I heard is mostly managers or captains. Can't really cut any more colleagues.
My manager has confirmed that something is coming out in stores on 1/18. A restructure of some sort with title changes
Do we think corporate announcements happen same day, jan 18, wonder if in anyone knows, bc according to my director she truly doesnt see it happening?
You can only carry over 10 days of PTO in California. I moved to Texas last November and transferred to another store. I just found out I can't carry over here so I have to take these 10 days during January or I will lose them. Yuk.
Stores that are closing are notified tomorrow morning and will be told not to tell the press until the public PR announcement on Wed.
So who's getting cut? It's definitely happening in the 18th. Store Manager has said an announcement is coming. Just who?
1 Salaried exec pay = 3 generalists
Our DVP was talking to our store manager and said they don't have the severance information yet. Seems like more news coming out Tuesday. Good thing that here in San Francisco you can save up your vacation time every year and you get paid out for any unused PTO from past years if you quit or get laid off.
We are hearing that the bigger your store, the more managers positions are cut. Managers who lose their jobs only have 10 days to try and find a job within the company. Now you know why the Pulse Survey was moved to the 29th, it's doubtful any of the people getting laid off would have been too happy answering questions about career growth, job security, and how they feel about Macy's. I don't think that those of us who still have jobs are going to feel much better, survey should set some all time record low scores this year.
This is what happens when you’re not growing. 1 STM, 1 OOM, 1 SMM, 1 MBA , 2 CXM’s for a small door
This post is 100% true. Some stores will lose SMM, OOM and CXM positions depending on their head counts.
We had an open executive role in my location and it was frozen. But apparently it will open Tues and the person in KY store they want for it was told to apply tues.
“There are no colleagues left to cut. ”
True but irrelevant
There are no colleagues left to cut. Have you been in a store lately? One person working per floor. I've seen times when a floor has zero working.
This company is just so over.
