Left before the acquisition. I was curious what people were saying here. I’m floored. Is it really THAT bad at Broadcom?

Hey OP. I’ve read most of what shows up here. It’s either, lies. Highly hyperbolic and exaggerated. Complete FUD or the work of trolls, or maybe partially true in small use cases. Many of us who are here are very happy with things.

It's the Jack Welch culture for sure. I'm shocked SHOCKED that they cooked the books and broke the law and did something even more unethical... worms. Hock is as ruthless and cheap as Welch. I don't know how anyone can live like that and have that kind of greedy mentality. The only thing I can think of is a group that has illegal tunnels in NYC.

Best analogy I could use is the experience so far has been like fishing using a trawler net.

In the mission to catch the fish they want (the big accounts), the net has raked over everything else on the sea floor and destroyed the very ecosystem that allowed those fish to flourish in the first place.

All that’s left is a barren landscape with a few patches of life clinging on desperately to keep things alive.

The catch will rake in loadsa money in the short term, but like the Atlantic cod fishery, it’ll be rinsed to oblivion and the trawler will then move on to new grounds.

LMFAO, comparing GE with Broadcom shows you lack any understanding of business strategy. Now, i'm not a fan of TilTokTan, but there's no comparing Welch and Tan, different business models and strategies.... Read up on your business history please.

“It's the 1980s Jack Welch format. Rule by fear. Command and control.” - as you say….but, turned out GE was using manipulative accounting to cook the numbers. Stock had near death after being the market darling, Jack Welch died and GE has been broken up…. Never think these guys are invulnerable. They aren’t, and time has a way of catching them.

Hock has an ultra successful strategy for acquiring IP and maximizing profits and shareholder value. That's his entire purpose: get the stock price as high as possible. Is he ruthless? Yes. Is he transparent? Yes.

It's the 1980s Jack Welch format. Rule by fear. Command and control.

Yes, it means cutting to the bone and not innovating.
Yes, it means cutting all the perks like free food, yoga, and pride flags in every conference room.
Sorry, no company car or flying first class.

Every employee needs to generate a certain amount of revenue and if your BU is underperforming, it will be sold off and people will lose jobs. It's a simple format and it works.

Broadcom only cares about the top paying customers like enterprise companies. They don't care about pennies from small and middle sized companies. Why would they? The format works.

Is it ethical? Business is business and it does make you feel like sht, but look at the stock price. I regret leaving for greener pastures. If I stayed and toughed out the lack of WFH (I had a bad commute) I'd be much more wealthy in just a couple years. Always go for the money. Don't bother with your dreams or you end up unemployed in tough economic times.

People showing their true colors about their fellow coworkers throughout this whole ordeal, particularly some comments I read about global sites getting closed made me sick. I'm actually glad I left before everything went to he-l. Kindness went out the window the moment people thought their job was in jeopardy

Seems to be very little middle ground.

There is a ton of middle ground and people in it. They are just portrayed otherwise.

Hock isn't even on my radar. Just as Raghu wasn't. He has zero impact on my day to day work. He set the rules years ago and we just follow them. People love them or hate them, but middle ground is just accept them and move on.

Same here. Family member got the offer, found an excellent job and left. So lucky.

BC is a company who takes jobs, income, opportunity away from many and redistributes it to few.

It seems this forum has two types of posters:

  • Those that like the CEO and how he does things (some might even go as far as worship)
  • Those that hate how the CEO is running it

Seems to be very little middle ground.

A lot of these comments are just people pi---d that BC isn't a startup-like company that VMware was trying to maintain but was also losing over the last several years. BC wants to make money for everyone, not give free stuff away or keep putting money into things that don't help the bottom line. Is it different? Yea, it is. But VMware was changing anyways. You can thank the majority shareholders for that.

goals and become his puppet.

That's because they leaders were not competent. They were hired (for whatever unknown reason), but had no clue how to do the job. Now that they have a leader that is basically pressing a pointy stick at their livlihood, and they are in fear of losing their jobs, they emulate the thing that controls them.

We are all animals, and they just want to survive too -- because they need to wait for another company to be infected by their friends before they can get hired into it.
