Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

2U or not 2U. That is the question.

Few options. Here are 2:

Sell off or close down everything that's not profitable, like Laureate did. It's a shell of its former self, but it's still alive.

Sell everything off to private equity, if they see any value. Apollo Global acquired University of Phoenix, for example.

Makes sense! My manager is doing all of this with me for the past few months and guess what…it’s working. I’m leaving as soon as I can

Quiet firing can be demotion, suddenly finding fault with work or workers that was previously considered acceptable, or setting goals that are unreachable, thereby causing the previous two points to occur. The hope is the employee leaves (no severance or unemployment claims).

I know at least a half dozen people who were all good and were quiet fired (demoted) who all left within about 4 months. So 2U got out of paying any severance for these people because they felt undervalued and left. So that’s what I see as quiet firing.

Option 3 could really hurt the share price. Pink sheets here we come?

Option 3: pay executives hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to watch it all burn, while raising monthly insurance costs for employees, laying off or quiet firing hundreds, and not giving out real bonuses.
