Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

How do you feel? My feeling: sitting in a sinking boat with no captain on board

I feel like I am sitting in a sinking boat and no one really cares or is in control anymore.
How do you feel?
I feel like we have no direction, no clear communication.
The only thing management communicates about is all the great ideas they have and how everything is perfect.
When in reality they're leaving us in the dark about what's really happening, what's the current standpoint, what's the strategy, what are the internal challenges, how they're addressing them, how things are going with A&M.
Why don't we focus our strengths on our broken processes and our systems that are in desperate need of an update? Why aren't we focusing on what's working and improving it, instead of being completely hallucinating some endless 3.0 marketing nonsense?
Why is no one looking at all the feedback on the web about the terrible service? 1.4/5 on Trustpilot. You should check it out: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.fossil.com
All we hear about is revitalizing the brand, new marketing and communication strategies... Where is the customer focus? The core of every business and the core of Fossil?
What good is revitalizing a brand or focusing on premium watches when the infrastructure that supports it all is crumbling?
And always these rumors and rumors of future layoffs, no clarity, not once are the mistakes clearly acknowledged and presented as such, it's always the headwinds, the external factors, the environment, bad luck, but never us.
We already lost so much people and knowledge, I feel like no one really knows what exactly is going on anymore.
Here are my thoughts, the thoughts of someone who loves working for the company and is sad to see how things are going and how all the potential seems to be thrown out the window.
I'd like to know if anyone else feels the same way or if I'm delusional?

Fossil is a black hole, swallowing all the energy, passion, and creativity of anyone unfortunate enough to get caught in its gravity. Don't waste your time. The grass isn't just greener elsewhere, it's an entirely different, better landscape. You deserve so much more.

Some advice from someone that once felt the same way....Fossil will NEVER be worth the energy that you're giving it. It will never change, this is the company through and through. I've been out for a while now, but it sounds like it's still chugging along same as usual, running on the same chaos with the same sad people churning out the same toxic waste. You cant change it, that's just what it is. Take the energy that you're using on 'dream scenarios' and look for a new job. There are SO MANY better places out there that are deserving of your hard work and energy. The grass actually is greener. I promise.

You've hit the nail on the head. It's like we're trapped on a doomed ship with no captain. The lack of clear plans from A&M or truthful communication from our ELT is pathetic. Their fixation on pointless workshops is wasting everyone’s time. They seem oblivious to the real issues glaring at us. Instead of fixing our chaotic processes, Holly and Lisa continue cooking up hollow marketing strategies. As for elevating the brand? What a joke! Melissa and Patty will soon obliterate what's left of our Leathers business. We've lost all credibility with our customers. It's painful to witness a company we once loved disintegrating in front of our eyes!

Sadly you’re putting in way too much effort/thought into what upper leadership is going to do or provide clarity of. Internally, the patterns are all the same & it’s only a matter of time before you or someone else you know is let go. I was optimistic once(in the changes) but Fossil is always the same. A new direction every 6-12 months(doesn’t have to be company wide but even down to a departmental structure). Thus causing layoffs and reorg’s to do 1)Try to salvage what money they can to keep shareholders on top & 2)Push you into a new role just before you get that incredibly unheard of “Outstanding” on your review to get the pay you deserve.

Best of luck with all your worries

Most senior leadership have known the boat is sinking for a long time and just say yes to everything to keep their jobs & inflated salaries while doing the minimum as long as they can make it last, that’s the reality sadly that fossil has become.
