Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Do the bare minimum until your time here is up

Since we're not being laid off based on merit, do yourself a favor and do the bare minimum until your time here is up. I think it's safe to say that the majority of us realize that Citi is not the best place to build your career, so there's no need to do anything but the minimum until you are laid off or leave on your own. Don't do the management any favors is my motto.

FYI To all Employees: Make sure you use up your Sick Days first if you're allotted Sick Days. It seems even Exempt Employees are given a certain number of Sick Days. You will Not be paid for Sick Days accrued if you're laidoff or fired. You will be paid for unused Vacation Days accrued because Vacation Days are considered compensation. There are HIPAA and Privacy Laws in the USA. It's NO one's business but your own what you do on sick days, if you're actually sick, if you went to the Doctor, what ailments you may have, what type of Doctor you visited, etc.. That being said, in some companies, if you need to be on Sick Days for more than 2 consecutive days, you're required to get a Doctor's Note. And so for example, if you know for certain you're starting a new job on June 1 and you've accrued and have remaining from your allotment 5 Sick Days, it's prudent to use up these left over sick days Before you use your Vacation Days because if you take from your Vacation Days bucket first, you'll be paid for fewer Vacation Days.

Post ID: @txj+1qvwCb1l: In some cases working long hours might also mean that one is incompetent :D So yes, definitely everything above 35-40 hours a week is not productive. But you have to really work 35 hours a week, not just count the zoom calls/coffee breaks/lunches/etc. Many people also "simulate" work by generating meaningless work so that they can show they have been busy and contribute to the team...

I never did understand the over glorification of “the only way you can prove that you’re hardcore is to put in 60+ hours per week” that’s the only way to show you are serious about your job and then people start bragging about the number of hours they put in. To me it’s not a bragging point to work like that for little to no extra $. You’re basically broadcasting that you have been successfully manipulated by the company to do the work of 2 people for 1 salary and here we are, those very same people are on the same chopping block as everyone else.

I’ll repost what I’ve read many times now but its still true nonetheless. “Its a job, a means in which to pay your bills. Its not a cult, its not a way of life, its not a religion. It’s a job.”

I predict that due to the Forced Ratings Curve (about 65% of all Employees) to Downgrade exemplary and hard-working 1 and 2 Employees TO 3-Valued Contributor, there will be a Mass Exodus voluntary Quitting of Employees starting February 2024 and throughout 2024. Of course, the Employees who will be the first to voluntarily Quit Citi are the ones with brains, and in-demand skills and knowledge. It's Citi's loss and continued Brain Drain since Fall2022 further exacerbating Citi's D3ath Spiral into bankruptcy or at least as a shadow doppelganger "bank" of what it once was just like Wells Fargo and HSBC. I will be in that Group in the Mass Exodus. There's NO future in Citi. It's on its way to bankruptcy or getting merged into JPMC, Wells, BofA or Goldman possibly by the end of 2024 if not within 3 to 5 years. Citi does NOT offer or have meaningful Salary increases or Bonuses, There are NO Promotions and more than 65% of Employees who actually deserve 1 and 2 Ratings which is equal to Higher Bonuses, Salaries and Promotions are getting Downgraded TO 3-Valued Contributor. As other posters have explained, Citi's benefits (medical, retirement plans, dental, etc.) SVCK compared to BofA, JPMC, etc.. So Why Stay???!!! Citi is a Destitute, NOT Profitable, Dysfunctional SH!TH0LE !!! There is NO reason whatsoever to remain at Citi.

One thing I have noticed is even when I go above and beyond, my rating is still the same and my bonus doesn't change much. So why go the mile?

I have been doing that for the past 5-10 years. Doing well :D I even said that to a previous manager - if you want me to stay on zoom with traders until 9pm on Fridays and then log in at 8am on Monday you have to pay me... I do not work for the glory of being able to say that I stayed on zoom with a top Citi trader until 9pm. The trader will get his/her 100-150% bonus at the end of the year, but I will be left with my wife asking me why did I have to stay so late on zoom...
