Vacation time

My question is there a cut off day as colleagues we are allowed to use vacation. I was told today by my people leader that I can’t take the rest of my vacation from 2023. Cuz I have about 2 weeks left. I know some colleagues that are taking the same time off as me and they don’t have issues

It's your responsibility to schedule your PTO in time to get it on the schedules. Why didn't you schedule your days? Every time you log in to MTO you see how much time you have left and if you held on to TWO entire weeks and just woke up to the fact you didn't schedule it, it's a learning lesson for you. It is NOT your managers job to remind and prod you to schedule it!

Yes,PTO has to be used by Feb 3.
Since schedules are already populated, you will not be able to enter it. A people leader can enter it, but they do have the right to refuse any days that affect coverage, since it was not input in the proper time frame (5 weeks advance).
If you call off and ask for the PTO that way, it can be entered; however, those call offs still do count against reliability. In other words, you’ll get paid, but still take the ding on reliability.

If you are in California contact the CA State Labor Board. Macy's has to either let you take it or pay you out for it.

Perhaps they cannot schedule it but you may always call out same day and apply PTO hours and use them that way.

The schedules have most likely already been uploaded to MSP as pto should be input 3-4 weeks ahead of time. Will need to discuss with leader/ HR to put in manually if approved. Also all PTO subject to leaders approval but yes you and they should have had the PTO conversation for Q4 at a check-in.

I would hate for you to get sick for those two weeks your people leader refused to let you use your earned PTO. Agreed, talk to your HR rep.

I would check with hr on that. Your people leader should have been checking in on you earlier this year or at least in November and December to let you know you have a lot of time left and you need to start taking it so that you don’t take it all in January. Typically it’s round upon to save it all and takeoff a big amount of time in January but there isn’t anything in any handbook or any rulebook that says that you aren’t allowed to use your time in January. As the other poster said fiscal year doesn’t start until February, and you can use your time for 2023 anytime within the fiscal year. If you’re having issues with your own boss which sounds like you are I would go to HR or I would go to your skip level , you might not be able to use all of it if they have some weird rule that you didn’t know about, but at least you should be able to use some
