Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Job hunting but no response whatsoever - is it me or the job market is incredibly bad at the moment

Glad that I found this site.
I am based in London, and this is the first time I have experienced this. Usually, I will receive calls from recruiters shortly after I set my LinkedIn profile to "open to work, actively searching". But I have been waiting to hear something since last October. I applied for many jobs but have yet to receive a response, apart from one or two rejection emails. This is very unusual. Initially, I thought it was because of my CV, but my friend, who is a professional recruiter, reviewed it and said it was a great one. This situation puzzles me. Is it me, or is the job market exceptionally bad now?

Any suggestion is welcome. Thank you so much.

Vacancies in the UK and Ireland are tumbling off the edge of a cliff.

Rest of Europe is down as well but not at the levels seen in these two.

Too many people chasing too few jobs. Nothing to do with the current pre-recession situation. I have been experiencing this for many years already. UK especially is pretty bad when it comes to protectionism...

The economy has the same amount of money as before, but speculation is what causes money flow to slow down. Recessions are caused by that. This is a perfect time to talk about UBI. Universal basic income. The world economy is collapsing because of unrest, wars, disinformation, speculation, lies, automation, pandemic, corporate greed, and AI. Things may never go back to the past so everyone must think about this and vote accordingly. Companies are driven by greed instead of balanced sustainability. Governments are weak and slow to do much.

Same. It’s oversaturated. Everyone is on the hunt for a new job. More and more layoffs coming from other companies as well. It’s just bad timing for all of us. I feel your pain. Comapnies not providing updates or ghosting
