What's worse, continuing to work at CommScope or moving to Vantiva? I've been selected to work at Vantiva, and I'm uncertain if it's a good decision.

I was the one from Commscope to let go in March. As they were obligated by law HR provided age buckets of the laid off employees. It was a clear age discrimination trend.
The sound of two garbage trucks colliding
Concur with the previous comment, all very touchy feely at first, now we are really seeing what they are all about
Incredible as it seems Vantiva seem to be worse than CS at basic comms. All I know at my site is there is a drip drip of layoffs, partial unlayoffs all with no explanation or indication as to when this will all be done.
Morale is in the gutter, the office just seems to be full of folk whispering rumors or gossip to each other. Leadership was poor at CS but this is out of control
Newly acquired CS employee here, let go from VTA with 3.5 business days notice. All very welcoming at first, full of training, meetings, the fake "meet the team and let's get to know you"s. Then the crytpic call invite the day before. 2 sinking ships is so correct. Playing with peoples lives. Oh, and CS severance plan offered, but VTA/Technicolor Severance Plan remains a mystery, to be able to compare. No such policy was able to be found ANYWHERE on VTA's HR or Global Policies sites. Good people with years of knowledge let go like outting out the trash.
Vantiva just completed a mass layoff, people that were laid off last week were let go today. They also let go of newly acquired Commscope employees. They are two sinking ships, but the merger is making Vantiva sink faster. Only one department was told by Finance they needed to save US$1.2 million asap, hence the mass layoffs.
What sort of numbers?
You weren’t selected for long. Basically removed what Commscope left over after the destruction.
I was hoping for an ironic hipster revival of the analog DVR. NTSC, 4:3 aspect ratio, RF out, the works...
Whether Vantiva or Commscope, set top boxes are going the way of electric typewriters.
Any updates from the Vantiva side of things? Thought there might be some rumors of how they were going to do things by now
OK
Arris may not have been perfect but it seems now like a blissfull company after working under commscope management . Communication is absolutely abysmal and I truly believe its purely intentional. Never had a pay freeze under arris/ colleagues been left go continously since the Cs acquisition.hr is horrendous in how they relate to staff..i could go on......but that would be a novel at this point
I don't know where the idea that arris was wonderful comes from. Just look at the arris group inc. page on this site going back to before the CS takeover, it's grim reading.
The legacy of that style of management is still with us; secrecy, compartmentalization, abysmal communication and complacency.
I vote Vantiva, as the last of all the good Arris management gone with them. Believe it or not Arris was a great company up to 2019 until CS came along.they respected their employees and rewarded them for their hard work. So good luck to them as hopefully only way is onwards for them with vantiva
How are is vantiva compared to CS?
Out of the frying pan into the fire
Dude… you got sold at the market as cows do…
Say moooo
2ods+1qvEjTIA In a sane world, the managers should be at risk because there are way too many layers of them with fat salaries. Vantiva will need the few remaining folks know-how to make products. It can only be expected that Vantiva management will have a better grasp of the market and will pivot to making new and innovative products which people actually want. Smart move by Vantiva bringing Tim on board. It's a gutsy move which should bring orders in if there are any to be had. It should be like the good old go-getting Pace days.
Who do we think is most at risk? Management or individual contributors? I get the impression most of the day to day stuff is done in lower cost countries
Went thru many acquisitions with others workmates similar your case, you may have certain values at this moment to Vantiva, but eventually, will be in same way as CS = layoff. Vantiva could keep you longer bc CS is shutdown HN + unload employees, why stay there?! This industry is dying, into sub-staining mode with less demands, find a new job / field. Good luck!
That’s like a choice between a punch in the face vs a kick in the n@ts
Being selected to work for Vantiva at this early stage in the acquisition doesn't mean that employment is certain. There will be layoffs as a consequence of the integration. Best of luck to everyone at HN who will now face the binary selection process.
Whose decision was it? I'd say vantiva is the better one, at least there's some ambition there. Who knows what would have happened to HN under CS, slowly faded away I'd guess
