DISH to layoff 150+ more workers in Colorado

Denver — DISH Network will lay off a further 157 workers in March, according to a letter sent to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment on Monday.

In November 2023, the company announced it will layoff 499 employees, bringing the total number of recent layoffs in the company to 656.

The letter was sent as part of the Worker Readjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires companies to give employees a 60-day notice before mass layoffs.

2024 TABOR checks will be tax-free
Companies are also required to submit a notice to the state about the layoffs, which are then posted publicly online.

According to the letter from DISH Network, the 150 employees will be laid off on March 8.

According to the November WARN letters, the 499 employees were laid off on Sunday, Jan. 7 and Monday, Jan. 8.

How is it possible they were let go right away? The WARN gives employees 2 months or so I thought. So could that mean the number stated is different than how many people were laid off? Can that mean on that date more layoffs would happen?

I dont know how they get away with it, but they laid everyone off almost immediately. The dates given to WARN are false. Those that are laid off immediately do not get any kind of severence and are not paid up to the date that is reported to WARN

How do you know WAH does not count under WARN?

Do all affected employees get notified on the same day when there is a WARN notice? Has anyone been notified?

Confused on this WARN. There was an article that said those employees that will be let go will be notified the first 2 weeks following 1/8/24, which was when the announcement was filed/made. So does that mean by 1/22/24, all those employees will be notified or not necessarily?

They have ALWAYS been terrible employers. I feel bad for those who have stuck by them for years. I temped for 6 months and refused a full-time position as they were crazy town and abusive to their employees.

So all those will be laid off right on March 8th? Are remote workers counted on Warn or only on site employees?

I like how the previous post here is about how HR told them there wouldn’t be anymore layoffs

Unfortunately none of the work at home layoffs count under this warning law. So they're just laying us off in droves. I haven't been laid off yet but I know it's coming as I watch more and more of the names in my work chats switch to being deleted. My heart goes out to everyone being done this way by dish.
