Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Roman

When is he going to retire and enjoy his full pension?

Every time I hear something from him, I wonder whether Monish might be better. Which is a terrible thing to think.

Agreed, the "new" vision he sent out is worthless. It says essentially nothing, or at least nothing that is really actionable or unique to 3M.

Ironically, when I asked the 3M Navigator what a CEO's job is, the first thing it spat out was "Setting the Vision and Strategy". Apparently Mike should have consulted with AI first before sending out the email blast to 90k...err...85k...ummm...80k employees

What does our Dude's latest post on bigger and
bolder vision mean ?

Why can't he just fly into oblivion and retire soon instead of making him look like a h.e.a.d.l.e.s.s chicken running around without a purpose for the upteenth time????

Roman has made a complete mess since he took over from Thulin. Bad acquisition plus poor judgement and belief too much in consultants in making massive model changes. Employees are suffering in their pockets as a result of poor decision.

Just look at half the COC team vs 5 years ago. How many have resigned and showed him the middle finger? They cannot even find a proper replacement when Ashish left.

Can anyone comment on what has led to changes in Romans behavior, management style, and overall attitude towards the company. Granted, it is very clear he is not in charge of anything but his wardrobe, but looking back at his career as MD Korea, IATD, IBG, etc. He is in debt to someone or something. What broke the camel’s back? NG leaving and MP coming in? Others in his cabinet have clearly not kept pace and have all moved on. In the search for his successor, the pool is but a drop of contaminated water of individuals who understand the 3M model, way, and historical leadership.

He gets a $26 million pension because he has led the company to bigger and greater success in each successive year as determined by the BOD.

This is meant to be sarcastic

"the BOD", i.e. himself and his cronies.

Roman should get "Every Day wins points" from all Employee shareholders for turning 3M stock into "A Dog with fleas." Thus and a way to go A-hole atta boy clap! He doesn't care at all, he gets to live the highlife while putting many former and recently laid off employees in the poor house by ruining retirement. Total disgrace getting a pension neither earned or deserved. What a creep!

Remember this during Roman's retirement party.

Send a symbolic message to top dogs and Roman and don't clap and cheer for him during his retirement party. Stop being Pavlovian d.o.g.s

Considering the board has not fired Roman for underperformance to date. The entire board should be overturned but make sure you replace with people that care about the company rather then themselves and false initiatives and pretty slide decks. Powerpoint slide decks have ki-led this company.

MR is not alone in the hall of shame. Many IT minions (that is the past CEO) also to be blamed, including many that jumped ship.

They will write books about the Roman method (how not to run a multi-billion dollar business). We may become more notorious than even GE!

There are rumours that a new CEO from outside is going to be announced. The executives are coming together for a leadership conference.
Let’s wait and see.
Any ideas on who might be the lucky guy ?

Roman is just a d-mb mouthpiece. The real evil is moneypenny. If he becomes the next chief we will experience a period of darkness that makes the last 5 years look like a bed of roses. And all top spots will be indian men.

Re: Me thinks that will cement his legacy in the 3M CEO Hall of Fame.

You mean Hall of Shame, right? Being ridden all the way to the bottom.

Parting thoughts: when executives decide to freeze pensions for their tenured staff while taking $26 MILLION for themselves, that shows the world exactly who they are.

Seriously, the man couldn’t lead his way out of a wet paper bag. He can barely read a teleprompter. The worst 3M CEO of all time and likely one of the worst of any company. But let’s not kid ourselves, Monish has been running the company for the last three years. They just let MR think he is. Hey Mikey, how’s your Purpose thing working out?

The only question that remains now, is Roman going to make the dividend cut announcement, which is inevitable at some point, before he retires or leave that privilege to his succesor.

Me thinks that will cement his legacy in the 3M CEO Hall of Fame.

Roman and Moni on a combined basis made north of $100 million in the last 5 years! Then Roman gets that sweet pension! The game is to be CEO or a CFO! Haha

“During Roman’s nearly six years as CEO, 3M’s stock has been a dog with fleas. Since he took the helm at the company in July 2018, the stock has managed the difficult feat of underperforming the Dow Jones Industrial Average the S&P 500 an equal-weighted version of the S&P 500 and every other stock that the company itself names in its filings as its “executive peer group.”

If you had invested $10,000 in 3M on the day Roman took over, then held onto the stock and reinvested all dividends, today you would be sitting on about $7,000.”
