The problem with people working on niche area like modem is there are not many external options. Fruit and Mediatek are mostly fully hired in this area. Senior people in modem are super scared right now. They have too much baggage of modem experience for anyone else to hire them. No one wants them. If q decides to lay them off they may never find anything comparable. They are now trying to hunker down from next round of layoffs.

Junior folks can still switch, I plan to leave the dead end modem asap before I also build up too much experience in it.

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? 25 years later, no one will care if you worked in Q or Goog. 100 years later all of us are guaranteed to be ash. A few billion years later, the sun would have engulfed the earth. We are but a tiny spec in this vast cosmos. Life is short. Prioritize time with your near and dear ones.

If you are being asked to train people in India your time is limited in Q.

I prefer to get a salary cut in a different company rather than training my replacement!
