Whether it's happening or not I am ok either way, it's just I will start working on complex stuffs If I am not laid off, don't want to leave halfway with my OCD
Has anyone actually heard anything, or is this just speculation based on last year? And is it bad that my first thought was "oh, I hope I get laid off next week!'?

What clients have cancelled contracts or did not renew?
They might play with dates to try to make it unpredictable. The scavengers excel at things like this. However, this year is going to be far worst than last year as clients continue to abandon Nielsen. Competitors have moved to big data while Nielsen is stuck in a panel based model clients aren't confident in. One client has recently called Nielsen leadership clowns.
Last year it was Jan second week. Just checked mail both layoffs were on a Wednesdays on the pay week.
