IBM stopped theirs's years ago. Obviously to save money and not give it away.

Sure with the long term USA economic growth 401 k's are looking questionable along with careers .
There’s actually a tax benefit Walmart gets for having a savings program. So, don’t expect Walmart to stop 401k plan or contributions anytime in the future. And, by the way, if you’re not taking advantage of the 401k and stock purchase program, you are seriously missing out.

Many companies are doing this. My company did this 10 years ago.
